Arsenals "youth policy" is a bit of a red herring actually. As someone has already said, they just buy already established youth players and then claim that they developed them
Yep, that is pretty close to the truth of it.
No its not find me 10 out of 20 players in our under 18s who we purchased as established theo and ramsey yeah but most other kids have been with us for years.
We are talking about the players that actually go on to become first team players. How many of these have come through the famed Arse youth academy? One?

Pennant was signed for £2m. Alliadier was signed at 16, from a french club.
So 2
well how old the oldest before its poaching, i suspect alot of smaller clubs without acadamies probably have some contact with the big clubs to give the players the chance to do as well as they possibly can
as for arsenals lack of england players their youth team currently consists of about 7-8 england youth players (u19's and u16's) so they cant be doing that badly, give it a few years and one or two of them might be on the arsenal first team! and the rest of them? well they'll probably be playing somewhere![]()
I think the point is, arsenal do like boasting. Boasting is fine if they can back it up with trophies, but they are a shambles right now. Wenger buys young, but needs to support British talent (look at Villa), he also needs to realise the Premier League is just too physical for his "small guy" policy. They need some strength. Arsenal (the board and Wenger) like to use the "youth policy" as an excuse not to spend money, and they need to, or they risk missing out on the champs league.
Villa have purchased a few of the english youth they are playing.
Well that's it, Tony Adams has gone![]()
Villa have purchased a few of the english youth they are playing. Wenger plays Wenger football and untill now English kids have not been bough up playing that so they have not fit in. now he has had a chance to oversee our youth development we have a lot of english youth coming though.
The part of the youth policy to be proud of is players like Cesc Barce would not offer him pro papers so he would prolly still be slumming in the Barce B team but wenger took a gamble and its paid off.
I agree we need midfield backbone though as i am not sure Denilson or Diaby are the answer but it will not be the first time wenger proves me wrong so heres hoping.
Wenger has become to stubborn and embattled though. He insists on disagreeing with critics and the press even if they are right. Song, Diaby, Denilson? They are not the right player, and probably never will be. Wenger gives these players too long to prove their potential, and you cannot do that when you are fighting for the League.

Luiz Felipe Scolari has been dismissed as manager of Chelsea Football Club today (Monday) with immediate effect.
The Chelsea board would like to place on record our gratitude for his time as manager.
Felipe has brought many positives to the club since he joined and we all feel a sense of sadness that our relationship has ended so soon.
Unfortunately the results and performances of the team appeared to be deteriorating at a key time in the season.
In order to maintain a challenge for the trophies we are still competing for we felt the only option was to make the change now.
The search for a new manager has already started and we hope to have someone in place as soon as possible.
While that continues Assistant Coach Ray Wilkins will take charge of the team on a temporary basis.
And the breaking news at the moment...
apparently scolari has been sacked by chelski!
Thought he may get to the end of the season, but i guess the poor weekend performance left them little choice.
I wonder if Harry will trade up again and take the Chel$ki job![]()
