aye that a good signing.. can get rid of kalou and maludo and play him on the wing instead... also would give them the opportunity to play a 4-4-2 to make use of both drogba and anelka better.

Arshavin transfer deal should be dead imo. Reports state that negotiations are having to continue, but the post deadline signings are meant to be only for those where the weather has interferred in the dealings. Cant see how this could be argued in tis case... of course the Premier league will bottle it and allow the deal to go through I bet.

edit:

Is it me, or should we just cancel the january transfer window and make it a 7 day window only. Hardly anything happened most the month and as always deals are done at the last minute. No point in making it a full month (well over a month as they keep extending it by extra days) with this being the case, may as well make it 1 week because they can always make the agreements before the window opens like Man United basically did with the 2 serbian chaps.

Wenger did a phone interview for sky sports. He said the deal was basically done and that they would make an announcement later today and that it would be positive.

From the reports it seems everything was signed and done and then Zenit tried to pull the plug.

at 18:45 the General Director of Zenit stated

"Both clubs definitely want to complete the transfer, therefore the negotiations are still going,"

This to me is enough to say that they trying to abuse the extended transfer window to get the deal through. THank you premier league for bottling it when a so called Big Four club wants a deal put through :flame:

Well as Arse and the press were consistent in the reports that the deal was done paperwork wise, I think it shows how greedy Zenit are more than anything.

The report i have read says the delay is now between Zenit and Arseshaving Zenit want half of his signing on fee which i think will be large as he will take at least a 20k a week pay cut to join us.

So if the clubs have agreed the deal now just waiting for the player to get there as its bad weather ;)

you mean the player that was at the stadium having a medical hours before the deadline? :p

to be fair, im not worried if this deal goes through.. people are going on about his great performances in the euro's.. guess i was watching different competition. He done ok, but that was it, abuot 20minutes of high level play over the entire tournament so i not raving.

I was more worried about the rumours in regards to David Villa and Liverpool. Couldnt see that being true, but it would been a lot more worrying then arseshaving going to the gunners.

Well he was good at porto. But since im a Zlatan fan I've followed Inter quite a bit this year. And this year, omg. And people say Liverpool payed a lot for Keane. Quaresma costed like 16m or so and he has been worse than shit. Maybe Scolari can get him to play better :)

Queresma has a lot of talent... if scolari can get it out of him. This season he has been quite bad but this move may just wake him up a bit, with some game time i believe he can truelly give Chelsea a different option that they are currently lacking.

If Mourinho cant, then Scolari cant. Plus this is the premier league, Quersema is a right gaylord, he will be on his arse more than his feet

What a first impression England has made on Arshavin. A little bit of snow starts panic, and from where he is nobody notices the snow until you can't see out of your windows :)

well the deal was apparently finished just a wait and see scenario if the prem league ratify it (and if not he'll probably move on loan until his transfer as that seems to be the way its done these days!)

he probably wont be allowed to move on loan either, as iirc in the premier league loans have to be processed in the same window as the transfer, just there less paperwork involved in loan deals so they can be put through quicker and transfer details can then be brokered to make it permanent signing at end of season.

I know lower leagues get a few weeks after the window for loan signings, but im sure that isnt the case for the PL. Maybe im wrong, im still half asleep. lol

Probably that we're so narrow that anything that better than malouda (that really is anything) and gives us width will be a plus. Hardly a risk considering it's a loan.

ready by 8pm... you realise that is Three Hours past the deadline.

With everything that has been said by zenit they probably got reason to believe that the deal hadnt been done in principle by the 5pm deadline, or that the weather did not slow down the process (ie information that arshavin was on way to airport to return home, that negotiations were ongoing at 6.45pm etc, etc )

there a back log of transfer delayed by the weather to go through so there be delay because of that as well. If arsenal done their job properly they would have had the deal done a long time ago, but like most teams they acted like complete arses and left it to the last day. So if want to blame anyone blame your crappy owners/directors/management

It's done. Arshaving is now an Arse player. Ineligible for champs league and not match fit though.

According to the blog i read the agreement between Arsenal and Zenit was done by 4.45 it was the agreement between Zenit and Arseshaving that went late i suppose thats why the fa allowed it the two clubs were agreed.

Gerrard out for 3 weeks, Torres looking like he was rushed back to soon, Keane sold.... Rafa losing his mind (ie answering most questions "Ask the referee").. Oh it looking good for liverpool at the moment. Lets hope they crumble more then they have been recently.
Liverpool going to need some other players to step up to the plate, can kuyt and babel really pull the strings in the same manner of Gerrard+torres combo when they fit, i dont think so. Wonder if this is also the end of the Alonso protection squad, afteral there been 5 sending offs involving tackles on him this season. The guy such a play actor it is funny (notice how he cries until the cards come out, then 30seconds later he on his feet fine)

Aston Villa planning on pushing for answers as to what is happening with the Ars-shaving transfer in a meeting with the Premier league. Lets hope they demand to see all the paper work relating to that deal, as faxes/emails will have timestamps on it therefore there should be a clear audit trail to follow. No doubt though the premier league will have some excuses (really dont know how the weather can be blamed for the delay, they been negotiating for over 6months on the deal - premier league should never have agreed to allow it, as clearly something was wrong when they had to get lawyers to go through all the paperwork). Wonder if this gonna be the new Tevez saga :D

Corran - I don't know what you have been reading, but the Arshavin paper work was submitted before the deadline. As I understand it, the FA simply did not have enough staff left to process it that day - due to no one being able to get into the office due to the bad weather.

arsenal transfer was 24hrs late, infact i cant think of a single other transfer that was more then 12hrs late in being ractified. I got my information from various news sources, (both UK and international - ie russia) and most of them stated it wasnt going through... hell a Zenit representitive was live on tv at 17:05 stating that no agreement was made and Arshavin was going to be returning to russia. Kinda throws a interesting twist on things.

Then you got arsenal saying at times they had paper work in before 16:45, yet arshavin stating to russian press he signed the contract at 16:58 or so. Inconsistancy there again.

The whole transfer looks to be chaos if you gather information from various sources. Just looks comically bad business practice.

Actually i think it will be Benny that steps up, if he gets to play in Gerrards "behind the striker" position. He has looked very good the last couple of games he had. I hope he gets the chance in Gerrards position (even if he looks so fking weak :p ). Torres looks good, not really rushed back. Can't dominate every game can he? :)

The Alonso part, cries until the cards come out. How does that differ from every other football player in PL? I don't like it when someone does it but you can't really blame him when everyone else does it?

With all those things said tho, Liverpool will drop more points than UTD in the remaining games. Will probably beat UTD and Arsenal and loose points vs lesser teams whilst UTD beats all the lesser teams! :) Next season Liverpool will win! :D

Omg is that true? Did he get selected for the Russian Euro squad without playing a single game?

i was talking about the Euros themselves, he was suspended during the initial group stages, then played 3 games ;)
