Best footy story of the day :

Manchester United trio Carlos Tevez, Ji-Sung Park and Patrice Evra have become best mates, to the bemusement of the rest of the players. Darren Fletcher said of the Argentine, the South Korean and the Frenchman: "What language do they speak? They walk around together, they banter with each other. I don't know how it works." (Daily Star)

Red scum match off tomorrow.

I don't really care that much what happens. Obviously i want Liverpool to win to give us a greater chance at the title but i feel like Utd have basically won it already, and i love to see Liverpool lose. Fucking scum.

Predictions? :p

When taking in to consideration the money spent on players and the money recouped, there is a difference of just £24.2 million between United and Liverpool since the summer of 2004.

The season before Benitez took over, Liverpool were fourth in the league. United finished just one place above them that season.

Liverpool trophies since summer of 2004: 1 Champions League, 1 FA Cup,
Manchester United trophies since summer of 2004: 2 Premiership titles, 1 Champions League, 1 League Cup.

So, there is a difference of just £24.2 million, an average of just £6 million a season, and Benitez wants to know how he is supposed to compete with United?

United already had a strong team, and has bought in quality players. Fergusson has built this strong backbone for ages.
Benitez is still building his backbone, so i don't see what kind of discussion you wanna provoke :)

Well just look at the number of players Benitez has wasted on money on considering the poor amount of quality he's recieved, he clearly sucks at transfers.

edit: Also recently Benitez was moaning that he doesnt have anywhere near the spending power of Utd. £6 million a season is hardly a difference.

Reina i think it was just been moaning about Man Utd's spending power... it amazing that these people dont realise the difference... namely being that Ferguson looks for the players that could be the best/are of a very high level and spends big money on a single player...

Liverpool mostly look to spend small amounts of money on many many players. This is never going to work as you cant build your squad with poor players that cheap. Your better of spending the money you have on 5 players to buy one good player... you need at least 18 quality players, beyond that you need decent players but dont have to be top quality... that where united has the upperhand and why liverpools money complaints are bollocks.
Funny was Reina talking about the expensive players and naming ronaldo... who actually didnt cost us that much in comparison to his ability.

As an example of the Top Quality players plus decent cover. United have:

defense : Ferdinand/Vidic/Evra -cover: O'shea, Brown (neither are of highest quality but of a decent level).
Then can throw in the youth that already coming in: Rafeal, Evans, Fabio.

Midfield. - top quality - Ronaldo, Carrick (well most time :p ) Hargreaves (when fit which he never been :( ), Anderson, scholes/giggs (but they fading in ways).
cover: Park (not world class but does well and is decent), Nani (so much potential mind you, just mentally poor), Tosic (will be quality in future)

Forwards: Tevez, Rooney, Berbatov
cover: wellbeck, (ok some others but as tevez is the "cover" no point listing :p )

Lets use the forward line for Liverpool as a comparison.

Quality: Torres
Cover: Kuyt (never used there really and a poor winger), Babel (haha, he lacked alot since arriving), Ngog (hah)

megadave, the only thing that link is missing is that we have already spent £10million on Tevez.

Tevez isnt a purchase though, he a loanee and none of them are actually on list (mind you not that many top players involved in loan deals, but you get hte idea)

Considering the sheer cost, and the nature of the deal, it should be listed. Not that it makes much difference. If you were the Liverpool owners looking at the buying and selling you would be worried. I accept that there were a lot of politics and financial issues stopping Benetiz buying who he wanted though.

i dont think benetiz knows who he wants... or more to the point who would fit in with the best of the players he already has... he got the problem that he needs to start to really compete to attract the players that can help with that final push. Maybe this season will help with that though.

Man City though still having trouble with all their money... approach David Villa and get laughed of by the player... that was a given though anyways, anyone that knows villa knew they had little chance of buying him off.

How are they going to afford that? If he goes anywhere it'll be for BIG money.

not as big as you think.. the team is having financial difficulties... and if i remember rightly it has actually made them stop in the middle of constructing a new stadium.
All stems to not being able to sell the land their current stadium is on, and due to this they kinda need some money.

Valencia will not sell Villa on the cheap. He also wants to stay in Spain. I think they want at least 50mill for Villa and 20 or 30 for Silva. They are in financial trouble, but they are not stupid, Madrid's presidential elections are due in a few months - problem solved.

Can anyone post Fergusons 3 first year transfers?

Why bother? Very different times. You cannot price the players at today's market value. Remember when Shearer was the most expensive striker?

I do not think Blackburn have much hope to be honest. Arse do look a different side with Eduardo and Walnut back.

They looked woeful against Roma and they do seem to struggle against teams that get 'in their faces'. And isn't Eduardo injured again? I have to keep believing...

At least we did not decide to roll over because our pitiful little squad could not handle the odd midweek game ;)

I should hope not, it is still your best chance of being in the competition again next season ;)

Then why should we bother comparing fergusons quality signings he made after he built the backbone of his team to Benitez backbone building? :p

Because the players have the same value in those seasons. You are ignoring the issue totally. By all means get the transfer info - what exactly is it going to show you? The spending is minuscule by today's standards, you will not be able to compare it or price the players to todays market.
