The real life meet in the pub would suit me fine according to bracken i would still not react as i would be too happy drinking pints to deal with any emotional trauma caused by a few nasty words.

I didn't say you, I said gobby twats - i.e. people who like to mouth off at others from behind their pcs. I use it as an example to show that in rl such behaviour has consequences. People don't want to have to put up with others tantrums when they are playing for relaxation after a busy day at work. It's a pretty simple concept to grasp.

I can understand your point and i think there is merit i just think that at the age when you consider that its the age you should also just be able to wash it as water under the bridge and /dismiss and ignore the person without even breaking stride.

But its not really going to change how people act to a large degree since its only a minority guilty of anything worth a slap on the wrist to remind them.

Once again, the report is different to the reality.
Everyone gets frustrated from time to time and says something in the heat of the moment. That isn't going to get you banned unless it's particularly unpleasant. If you're in a group with your friends and you start using bad language, that's not going to get you banned either - unless you take it too far after being asked to stop.
Once again the rule is in the CoC and upholding it is not a new hobby of ours, we've been enforcing this since the servers opened:

Users are expected to show respect for one another, to contribute to the cordial atmosphere of the game. Harassment of another person, insults or remarks intended to hurt another person will not be tolerated.

Of course, we expect our members to express themselves using correct language. Similarly, racist, xenophobic or revisionist remarks, or remarks displaying intolerance of a religious, ideological, philosophical or similar nature will not be accepted.

Repeatedly using unacceptable language in public channels (/s, /br, /y etc) is not allowed as there are often young or easily offended people playing. Saying that they should 'get over it' is not a defence, you do not have the right to offend someone or make another person's playing experience uncomfortable.
Repeatedly harrassing an individual is also not allowed. What constitutes harrassment is a fuzzy line that is decided on the context of the situation and the previous contact between the indivduals concerned, it's not a simple case of swear=ban.

What this means for you:
Saying something not very clever that you regret, or in the heat of the moment or sending a mt to a public channel is not going to get you into trouble. Harrassing someone or repeatedly using the kind of language you'd use with your friends in front of a bunch of strangers will.

It has become more common which is why people have got fed up of it and are now reporting it. The fact that it can be /dismissed doesn't mean that people have to put up with it. People don't play this game to listen to some emotionally challenged individual venting spleen at them. It's quite right that they aren't prepared to put up with it and it's also right that GOA are taking action.

Oddly, the worst language I've probably heard was from a guildie, after repeated experiences of Albs running over him, leaving him for dead, and ignoring him in RvR, not rezzing, or helping, etc.

Still, don't hear it any more since he left the game due to that sort of experience in RvR.

well it's different in guild chat imo, k well maby not if a massive guild and you don't know eachother to well, but in my guild we might have a bad language now and again, but all know that we are just jokeing around ;D

And if saying something to a specific person you should make it rather clear that ur joking if abit harsh tbh, and well if you havent spent rather much time together you shouldent do so atall ;D

I'm not in the same guild as him, and whilst I recall him getting angry, I can't recall him resorting to swearing. As far as I know he's still about, too. Certainly his house is, it's next door to mine, and sometimes the lights are on.

Its like all the COC and EULA rules, you agreed to them when you start the game, you break em you only have yourselves to blame.

In RL, at least in the UK, its also a criminal offence under section 5 of the public order act to be offensive in public, so now chavs just get bored and use freddyshouse instead.
