I too hate how people use this word without really thinking about what it means. There are a lot of "retarded" people out there, all of them unique and most are quite charming. read the CoC. It clearly states what you can and cannot do. If you don't grasp the reason why it's in there, atleast grasp the reason of getting a ban if you don't follow it.

aaaaand 999 of those things cant be done by GOA as they do NOT have the license to alter any of the acual game codes apart from translating. NO the GOA events arent even coded here last i saw a GM speak about it. they tell Mythic what they want and they code it and send it here.

Most seem to be missing the point here though - when you log in you accept the CoC, whether you read it or not doesnt matter, you accepted the terms for playing this game, and if you dont uphold these GOA may have to take some action - how hard is that to comprehend?

Requiel already stated everything is looked on in its full context so I doubt someone that didnt 'deserve it' got banned.

I kinda like that mods here try to enforce some of the same rules, do remember that threatening someone on their life is punishable by prison in most countries. Just as many service providers are now taking heat for letting child rapists into their chatrooms, GOA can also be held responsible for what happens in their 'chatroom'.

Like as if the /filter filters every swear word.. I could think of quite a few who would not be filtered and those are only English ones not even talking about other languages.
Point is if you feel the need to swear at or insult someone over a game just do yourself and others a favour and just /q.

If you play a game and get so furious that you feel the need to throw random insults at people that do not want to play according to your self made rules then you better go and play a different game that does meet your requirements of what is fun for you.

Also do you really think if you say:
"Omfg you stupid leechers/adders stop adding you <some random insults here>"
Do you really think people will go like:
"Oh now I will never ever do it again ever because he insulted me "
Personally if someone would say that to me I'd make sure to 'add' extra much next time I see him just to provoke him, however if the person would send me something like:
"Hi would you mind to not join the fight next time as we are trying to have an 8v8 and we like to keep it as 'fair' as possible"
Then the chance that I would respect the thing that person wants to do alot sooner than if you would have said the first thing.

Treat people as you would like to be treated and you will get alot more done and that does not only count for DAoC.

On the martial arts thing, I've done none. However, I have been accused of it, by someone I almost had a fight with. He'd been rather unpleasant (no details) to a female friend of mine, and myself and a friend went to tell him to back off and apologise. As I was a lot smaller and narrower than him (though I'm 6' 2"), but was standing 'in his face', looking totally confident (I was - confident that if anything started - I'd hit the deck fast - I'm no fighter), calm and collected, he was convinced I was a black belt, and became so nervous he wouldn't even talk til I left. Master the ability to be that controlled when angry, Konah, and we may believe you when it comes to Martial arts.

Broadsheets - The Grauniad (though now a bit tabloid in size), and the Daily Torygraph. Not sure I know any other 'standard' silly names.
