A-fucking-MEN! Religion is a cancer of the human spirit.Thorwyn[B&Q] said:THe sooner we´re getting rid of religion, the sooner this planet will be a peaceful and civilized place.

very carefully worded, remind me again what happened outside your lifetime seeing as christinaity is approximately 1970 years old, the last classical crusade (supposidly in the name of christianity by a country), was (approx.) 1320 years after christianity was concieved.Marc said:I cant recall christians bombing people or starting wars in my lifetime![]()
Are you really that naive mate?Thorwyn[B&Q] said:My personal POV.... I don´t give a flying f*ck. Both sides, chrisitans and muslims are posined by the braindestroying thing called religion. THe sooner we´re getting rid of religion, the sooner this planet will be a peaceful and civilized place.

All that would happen if there was no religion is people would find other "excuses" for war such as lets say "democracy"

Sure, the earth wouldn´t turn into happy-scrappy-hero-pop land all of a sudden and yes, there would still be wars. But without religious fanatics, the ammount of rational thinking people would increase. That´s not naive, that´s evolution.

my point is mate, the vast majority of casualties are not because of religion but because of some other agenda be it political, financial or territorial. You will be very hard pressed to find a war/confilct of any sorts soley over religion.Thorwyn[B&Q] said:Millions of people have died under the sign of the cross, the half moon or whatever false god. it wasn't a derogatory remark, the media, press etc etc took it out of context as they usually do to sell more papersAiteal said:The head of one of the worlds most popular religions should be smart enough not to make inflamatory remarks in prepared speeches/lectures.
This was not an off-the-cuff remark at a press conference under quick fire questioning.
Chronictank said:thing is mate, the pope isnt christianity
neither is the church.
Christianity is a ideal, which some follow.. i doubt Jesus himself ever intended a religion to be so controlled seeing as it is supposed to (in theory at least) be up to the individual to explore their own path into what they do and do not believe.
Priests are merely there for guidance should you want/need it, at least thats what i understand it to be.

The pope also explained himself more thouroughly and apologised for any misunderstanding (first time he has apologised for anything). Personally i think he's a pretty good pope
In the seventh conversation...the emperor touches on the theme of the holy war. Without descending to details, such as the difference in treatment accorded to those who have the "Book" and the "infidels", he addresses his interlocutor with a startling brusqueness on the central question about the relationship between religion and violence in general, saying: "Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."
Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the beam that is in your own eye?
Or how will you tell your brother,'Let me remove the speck from your eye;' and behold, the beam is in your own eye?
You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye.
My mistake, apologiesAiteal said:I said inflamatory, you said derogatory
