I'm more surprised by the clan admin's attitude here too.

I would be very surprised if a whole clan was using such an underhand tactic but I wouldn't expect them to justify it or shrug it off.

The bottom line here is that as a result the clan's reputation has been tarnished and people are not going to want to play them in case they are all a bunch of 'feature' exploiting miscreants.

And to post here with a kind of 'fuck you' attitude isn't going to help anyone. It just seems to me that Anax and Choker are reinforcing Borg's original point that they are bad sportsmen and not playing the game in the spirit in which it was intended.

Oh - and yes, I would love to see you demonstrate your skills to Borg. Would that be Pay For View? :)

Well Jace just read your article and that has to be the lamest thing I've seen in online gaming since aim bots in QW. I agree with you players like that should be shunned and I would go as far as banning them from servers. I do not agree with some peoples opinion that ngworldstats are shite. I use them as a indictaion especially in Team CTF games of where we (DzR) can improve.

Heh maybe TcP's top ng stats bloke would like to arrange a 1v1 vs Nailz ? Should be a laugh. Not sure if Nailz would agree to it cos he don't like wating his own time.

Of course, it wouldnt be that difficult for me to write an admin mod for UT which could stop ppl suiciding themselves by typing a command. But that would only lead such ppl to hunt out servers that are a) Populated by newbies only such that they can always win and b) don't have the mod running.

BTW - for the nice ppl out there, and those that want a challenge - pop along to #ut.void to find the info about our server. We regularly open it up for everyone to come and play and generally the standard is pretty good (note to WP monkees - stay away :) ).

Hi - just thought I'd stir in my opinion too now it seems to be dying down. A bit of a general point but it follows on from what Jace mentioned about trusting the clan. I cant help feeling that after seeing or hearing about some clan members tactics/ beahvo=iour/ lack of sportsmansship, you assume it is a CLAN tactic - and hence it WILL reflect obn the way everyone else will treat all other members of that clan. I know it sucks but it happens. I for one try and make a point to my clan that we are visible on servers as being in the same clan, and poor gamesmanship reflects on us all. I recently had the opportunity to recruit a fine player - but I turned them dow because they use a tactic which not only do I dislike, but I have seen it cause ppl to get very angry on public servers about. I knew if That player had an =[SK]= badge we would have that anger aimed at the entire clan, not just one player. So if you are going actually play online and BE in the online community, act like a citizen of that community an not like some misfit. A sign of maturity and responsibility should be given by the Clan leader - put a stop to lameness or chuck out the players doing it :)

I also have to say that although I have never been to Penge I understand it is a very nice place. Those who know what I mean, know what I mean :)))

I am not really concerned about how it reflects on our clans reputation though. anax is but one of tcp's 10 or so players. most players who bother with a clans reputation will have seen more players play then anax and will acknowlage that not all TcP'ers play like anax does, borg is acting on ONE encounter with a TcP player and hear say..
I feel that this does not justify calling the entire TcP clan a bunch of untrustworthy lamers.

and im not lying when i say that TCP has many friends in the UT scene and they all know TCP would never cheat in a clan fight or in any other games so STOP your LAME BITCHIN' about telling players not to trust us you are just JEALOUS! and u want to ruin our reputation but it doesnt really helps coz our chat channel is often crowded by players or clans to play friendly games or they just like to come and chat....And Ehm
Every SMART stats player suicides when he's TO low on health Anax is just to lazy to shoot a wall so he binds a key :)) And ehm My personal opinion is that: More people will use this suicide key because they read about it on barrysworld...

He wasn't assuming anything, he saw TcP players suiciding because they were afraid their precious stats would be damaged if someone should actually kill them in a deathmatch.

It's a lame trick and your pathetic justification attempts with some really hard and cool swearing thrown in aren't going to convince anyone.

Whether you like it or not the suspicion that TcP are a bunch of lamers or people who exploit quirks in the game in an unsporting manner is now out there - good luck getting a clan game against anyone who knows what some of your players do.

LOL, that has to be the funniest thing I've heard in ages, thank you for making me laugh so early on a Friday morning.

With each reply you clan just goes further down in everyone's estimations. By the way, if there's no problem with you suiciding how come I received a mail from one of your players saying he has now left TcP because he was sick of you lot using lame tactics and attemtping to justify them?

Well - yes it's definately lame to suicide just to protect stats. Fortunately in a clan game a suicide counts as death and so I would hope that any clan would prefer to finish with a score above zero rather than below. Therefore I'm probably correct in saying that when TcP play clan games, they do so in a more "respectable" fashion. Note I am putting respectable in quotes simply because I have never had the pleasure of playing TcP in a clan match.

Without this experience I can only assume that TcP play properly as a clan but some of their more stat-orientated players have their own individual methods when playing on public FFA servers. Maybe it's just me but I'm being rather forgiving in this respect. Thats not to say that if I do meet a TcP dude on a server and that person decides to keep suiciding because he or she doesn't like getting beat by a fellow fun loving UT playing online gamer, then no fear I'll call a spade a spade :)

Only proviso to this is that some of their clan comments concerning this do not put TcP (as a clan) in a very favourable light at all. I mean - why play a clan whom use such tactics on an individual basis, and take such an attitude - when you can play respectable clans such as DAM, UwR or X (even H... our arch rivals and nemesis :)). Sorry TcP - it's just the way that I read some of your comments.

It was sad tossas like you lot who made real players like Nailz and the guys stronger still than him (yes they exist...) stop bothering with the stats- it's impossible to keep pace with people who cheat.

As Jace says keep talking guys cos your digging yourself in deeper with every word you say.

A top end clans needs to have two things, ability, and respect by other players.

TBH I have no real idea about the former, but given the fact even an entry level top end lpb like me can hold no4 in the weeklys without resorting to cheating I do wonder ...., but you sure as hell won't gain any of the latter by acting the way you have done here and on the servers.

If this was one of Voids players he'd have been unceremoniously debadged a long time ago.

Any player using the tag of your clan has 2 responsiblities, one is to his mantain his own rep, and two is to mantain the rep of his clan. As far as I can see he's failed dramatically on both counts. However going by your collective response I'm not so sure you think the same....

When someone in a clan uses some lame tactics or cheats it's not just his name that shows up in the score board , the clan badge is there.
I honestely can't see the difficulty in understanding that.

BTW I got curious about the TCP clan and decided to see your homepage, founded you using clan base, on the section we accept new members I found this:
"If You are a very good player and just dont care about the stats ,Looking for a good Clan, Contact Us :))"

I was just thinking about the sportsmanship/cheating issue and the only conclusion I can reach is that it's logical [sad but true].

If Anaxares or _whoever_ has found a hole in the system and has exploited it, then that shows just how low he will go to get his nick on the #1 spot and when he stops, the next guy will step into his shoes.
I mean look at spam, same thing goes there too.

What do WE care that a cheater cheats on ngStats?? After reading most of the posts one thing I've noticed is that nearly _everyone_ thinks that stat systems suck cos ppl have been letting them influence their gameplay and others haven been exploiting the holes.

Why are we all getting so worked up then?

Don't get me wrong though, I understand the principal at stake here. I also understand the temptation to cheat [being the mediocre player that I am hehehe]. The fact that I do not cheat [as far as I can tell] says something about ME, the fact that Anaxares does not deny his 'killself' button says something about him.

I just don't understand all the energy being spent in this BB. Shouldn't we be online kicking each others behinds instead of denouncing a cheater?

And i told you this before Jace! in my Email i sent you. STATS is not Everything.. And everyone knows (including Anax) That a nr1 stats player dont mean that he's the best player on the world and MOST elite players dont play for stats coz they have SERIOUS things to do like training and fighting clan battles we also do this.. And isnt this suicide thing more something to blame on NG than Anax? I personal knew Anax was using a suicide key but i never knew how much impact this would have on the UT scene... But i Promise You all that Anax will stop this behaviour...

Let us end this discussion, with a round up...

The young lads of TcP (thats an assumption on my part) or at least 1 or 2 of them, have suicide bound to a button... the reason for this is to improve thier stats, at the end of the day theres nothing all that wrong with stats.

Thats where most people are getting side tracked, and drawn in...

The real issue here is sportsmanship and gaming pleasure..

By denying somone a frag by using suicide, whoever it is, is denying somone 'fun' for thier own self ego of getting to #1 in the stats, obviously this person is a good player otherwise they wouldnt be able to rack up the kills to get there, now I cant emphasise enough, how selfish that is, to deny somone a frag, its lame, selfish adn sad, that you actually purposefully take the time to make other peoples game less fun.

That, Mr TcP bloke a couple of posts above is the issue, and all youre over use of the exclamation mark, and poor literary skills doesnt hide the fact that there is a lame sod in youre clan.

As DM captain of GODS of DEATH I would take extreme embarassment on behalf of my clan if any of my players used this tactic. We played a CTF game in which the opposing team took a 5-0 lead in a game after the first minute! After further inspection they had this tactic in which they seemed to kill themselves in a corner with the flag. WTF!? We still don't know what happened exactly. Is there a glitch in UT that when you do this, the flag will respawn in your base with you?! They of course ended up winning, but after the first minute they had a few captures after that but it was too little too late. The stupid part of all this is that the map played was Lava Giant. 5 captures in 1 minute?! I don't think so. Has anybody heard of this?

now im not trying to stir up even more sh|t, but on more than 1 occasion ive played in a dm server, and 2 [SS] dudes where teaming up, it was on liandri both times, and they simply camped the redeemer the whole time. They didnt win, but it p|ssed me, and the rest of the ppl on the server right off. So maybe hol has something to address in his own clan aswell, before he jumps on the bandwagon
