Well we would be in no worse a place than we already are. Our Parliament is a shambles. Reset the fucking lot.
Famous last words, it's been progressively turning into more of a shitshow for years with a constant feeling of 'well at least it can't get any worse', and then...

Well tomorrow should be entertaining. Is the vote legal? What amendments will there be? Will Corbyn finally go for a vote of no confidence? Fuck knows what else might happen.

Absolutely.

Lmao, I literally was about to post 'I can imagine what Job is about to say about it' then I refreshed, shock.

That's the important thing to remember about the EU; 80 years ago the parents/grandparents of people in that room would have been killing each other, now they're together making decisions peacefully (rightly or wrongly). As much as people might say we don't need that close relationship in order to achieve that, I disagree massively, cooperation and cohesion is the way forward, not squabbling and dominating.

I think we're taking this massive period of peace for granted, I'm not saying that leaving the EU is going to end that peace, but it definitely is a step in that direction.

The peace has fuck...fuck all to do with the EU.
It has done nothing but stoke the very fires that lead to war.
If we could look at Europe now and then go back 40 years, we would scrap the EU.
They have even fucking managed to turn Sweden and the Netherlands into hotbeds of the ultra right, while losing the last liberal country they had.
How bad does it have to get before something needs to be done.
And I dont mean more EU.

Sounds like they don't know what they're voting for.

Seems to be a common theme.

Shouldn't they make them vote again in that case? They might have changed their mind, after all.

Sweden and Netherlands hotbeds of the ultra right, lol.

Interests cause war, the EU had common interests meaning that war was avoidable.

Countries that leave the EU will be the ones that cause future conflict, it won't happen from a country which supports the concept of the EU.

I think you need to chill out a bit and realise the issues that we face right now aren't a cause for war, as much as you want it.

Sweden (and most of nordics tbh) has always had a far right core bubbling away, its still not a large group though

The media are just blowing this up into a shitstorm.
Parliament has always been like this..its normal, its called democracy.
The frickin Romans did it.
Remember that US weathermam pretending to get blown off his feet?
Thats the media..everything..everything they do is agenda ridden..paper selling exaggeration.
Its so complete..so smothering of the actual truth that people buy into the narrative.
Tusk is seething..Bercow is gloating..May is begging.
Its just bullshit.
Just take a moment to let reality sink into your brains rather than riding on a crest of theatre.

Do you actually believe we could do something as game changing as leaving the EU and MPs were going to rubber stamp the first deal.
It tajes them this long to agree to build a train.

Everywhere does. 10% of everywhere has always had about that percentage of hard right and a similar percentage of hard left, it's normal bell curve stuff. The problem is social media and micro targeting is sucking people into ideological positions on certain things, and getting them to vote on those specific niches.

This has a been an ongoing trend for decades (the rise of "single issue" politics) but social media has accelerated the process. There are loads of people voting for hard right policies who would never consider themselves as right wing (vast numbers of Labour voters for example).

What the right has been much better at is focus and targeting, whereas the left is all over the place and getting increasingly focused on stuff their original constituents struggle to see as relevant to their lives. Make no mistake, the rise of populism is also down to repeated failures from the left in terms of relevance.

Are you in denial.

Look at the stats and the trends.
This is SWEDEN, the cornerstone of liberalisation in Europe.

All under the EUs watch and policies.

Sweden: far right gains threaten Europe's most stable political order

I lnow youre going to try the usual 'it isnt happening..they have no power',in Swedens system that is a massive swing.

I mean, sweden has always been one of the more conservative nordics so not really surprised

In Finland the right wing party did become part of government with a similar % of vote, they promptly proved they have no policy other than "no brown people" and "youths ruin everything" so imploded, split in two, and are expected to get decimated in election next month

No you deluded muppet, Sverigedemokraterna are not ultra right. That would be nordiska motståndsrörelsen (NMR) who got pretty much no votes last election.
