I use the same functionality to watch things on the commute to work.Ah Plex, so good for traveling.
Not sure if free wifi in the hotel where i'm away. Onto the Plex app, pin some films and TV series. All copied over onto my phone, no hassel, 20 seconds of effort and 18 hours of TV just incase no wifi and i can't stream it.

From memory it's dependent on how your files are sorted, mine aren't stored in that manner so I can't.Plex people, is it possible to show Movies in series like in XBMC? Like when you just get the Dr Who Collection not all the individual films.
And does that change what you see on the TV or do you control yours via your phone? Not near mine at the moment but from the Android app you should be able to switch to Episodes rather than Shows and then filter by Unwatched

Mostly by the phone. I don't have an xboneAnd does that change what you see on the TV or do you control yours via your phone?

In the more recent Plex version, you can put in extra info for Movies under the title "Sort Title". At the moment these are just the same as the sort title. but if you edit them you can make ti list them all in a row. I've used this on a couple of series and it works nicelyFrom memory it's dependent on how your files are sorted, mine aren't stored in that manner so I can't.
Wow thats pretty harsh. So Kodi has a sort feature or an add on thing, anyway I have a folder called Kids which has all the kids films in etc, but what Kodi did was put the cover for the grim skateboard sex film Kids on every file in that folder :-(
In all honesty it may of been me, is it something called a scraper on Kodi? Anyway I ticked something because I was being mithered and it was when I was setting up the Amazon Fire stick, I just don't know if it's undoable now. I do have Plex installed on there as well but it will not play anything at any sort of watchable rate (yes I know it gets boring me saying it but it's true) which fucks me off because at least at one point I had the same server as Meg :/Wow thats pretty harsh.
If you keep them in a separate folder in your media Lib, you can setup Plex to index them separately as a new Library. Dont know if your kids are old enough or have there own devices, but you can setup a home network add your kids account and give them the kids Lib only, so they can't play the adult movies when noones around....not sure if thats what you are looking for?
Righto. I was wondering if you had an outdated version or something from sideloading. HummI can use the fire stick you horrendous bender
@Poag I got Plex for free off Amazon when it was app of the day, possibly when you gave the heads up ages ago.
I'm all wired and also wireless when experimenting, you know I hate plex but it isn't because I want to, I want to use it and I have tried dozens of times. I just don't get it.Righto. I was wondering if you had an outdated version or something from sideloading. Humm
Can you stream Plex ok over wifi to a laptop?
Does it stream ok over cabled connections?
I ask as my folks stream from my server, now i have 3MB/s upload but they have 2nd Gen ADSL, 400KB/s down top speed, and they Direct Play or Direct Stream my content most of the time, so theres almost no server load, just bandwidth....
Whats your media server out of interest? I'm just really confused as to why tis stuttering so much for you :/I'm all wired and also wireless when experimenting, you know I hate plex but it isn't because I want to, I want to use it and I have tried dozens of times. I just don't get it.
Different devices as well, tv's, blu ray players, consoles just everything plays stuttery, try kodi and it's perfect. Not the files either, tried them all, mkv, divx, vob, etc.
Then I come on here and rant about it because I'm so frustrated by something that I do actually want to use for ease and for ease for the family.
Edit - will try on laptop in a bit.
The HP Micro server the one that had the £100 cash back deal, Meg had one and I think Ch3t did. I have an Asus router that is meant to be one of the worlds fastest at wireless (?) and I have Netgear switches for the wired connections.Whats your media server out of interest? Same as what i've got. Hummm....The HP Micro server the one that had the £100 cash back deal, Meg had one and I think Ch3t did. I have an Asus router that is meant to be one of the worlds fastest at wireless (?) and I have Netgear switches for the wired connections.
I tried it on my HTPC which is pretty up to date and has a really good gfx card (to my mind) and it stuttered on that @Poag so....buh? Like some codec thing maybe? Oh, different OS as well, Windows 8.1 now and 7 before, I wonder if I could try it on Linux somehow......might need to bum Teedles for that to happen.
Probably. WiFi and media servers in general is a bit iffy.....Plex has started being a bit homo for me as well recently - it seems very hit and miss whether any non-Plex clients will pick up the DLNA Server. DLNA is switched on, but at the moment the only thing that will talk to it is the Plex Web Client on another PC. Phone, TV, PS etc - none of them want to know that it's there. Have tried connecting using the Plex App rather than the Music Player on my phone - no joy.
Is this likely to be because my Media Server is currently hooked up via wireless due to the Powerline Adapter issues I've been having?
