I'm not sure that cartoon was in particularly good taste, I'm not sure I like it but that's beside the point.

Fact is, free speech works both ways - they should be allowed to publish it and the muslim-danes should be allowed to peacefully protest it. There's also nothing wrong with middle-eastern countries being angry about it. I don't think there's much to get angry about but I'm an easy going hippy. Point being, as long as no one starts following through with death threats then all is well.

After seeing footage on the news where people were holding banners calling for those who insult Islam to be beheaded, are the UK people going to get sick of it to the point to vote in an 'extremist' (such as the BNP)? Afterall, that's how Hitler got into power.

A cartoon is a joke, but calling for a beheading is a completely different end of the scale.

I'm not racist, i'm not against Muslims, I don't prejudice against skin colour but I am increasingly becoming intolerant of Islam (from mild to extreme forms) and rapidly losing all sympathy for ethnic minorities that follow Islam in my country.

They can do what the fuck they like elsewhere or in the middle east, but to echo what has already been said already: don't come to the UK and force your extreme views here. It's only going to rock the boat of a population where racism and prejudice will no doubt be on the increase.

Before making such a life changing decision as emigrating, I would consider the culture and society that I am possibly moving myself into and asking myself a simple question "do I accept this society and culture and am I willing to be a part of it?". If no, I'm not going to go there, that would be stupid.

I'm not saying people who come to this country to live should automatically fall in line with everything we are about, but they should at least learn to personally accept everything they are getting themselves into.

You would think other societies might learn to show a bit more respect towards our country given that you can protest the most retarded things and preach some serious utter hateful crap without getting punished whatsoever. I'd love to see how quickly someone preaching things in some other countries would get strung up.

I didn't really find the cartoons offensive, but then again I don't really get the joke in most of them, clearly others do. I would say they could be taken as distasteful, but there is plenty of distasteful humour all over the world about all sorts of things. No one needs to go around boycotting countries, burning flags and threatening beheadings on anyone.

To be honest I am tending to agree with Big G here - but I must say that we are not blameless and innocent as many seem to think. I'm pretty sure not every Muslim is extreme, but can the west really be arsed sifting out the extreme and non-extreme? Whether you or I like it or not, they WILL all be (wrongly so) tarred with the same brush. Islam in the mildest forms seems to be heading in the direction of extreme.
