Hello all.. i just started playing a paladin and i can figure my spec..

I thought something alike
42shield (slam)
48Chants (best chants beside resists)
rest in slash..

What do u think.. please note this is a PvE spec ONLY, and mostly soloing

any defensive palas that know some good setup wuld be appreciated

You're on the right track. Now you have to decide how defensive you want to be.

Keep that shield (42) and chants (48) spec, and then you basically have three options how to split points between slash and parry:

39 slash / 15 parry
Good damage, and you parry enough with one-handed anyway

34 slash / 24 parry
Decent damage, better parry

29 slash / 30 parry
It'll take you half the night to kill a yellow-con mob, but it wont touch you


If you're a big shield fan, this is another possibility:
29 slash
48 chants
50 shield
13 parry

Anyway, enough template rambling. As long as you keep chants at 48 and shield at 42+ you really can't fail.

personally i`m not keen on the pally specs with really low weaponskill

Soloing 1 Orange con Ellyll Sage 1 yellow con Ellyll Sage and 1 red con Ellyll champion at ones with only the need of FA2 (wich is now nerfed).

But nothing compare to the joy of soloing lvl 50 BladeMaster and lvl 50 Druid together <grins>

I am 49 chants, 42 shield, 40 slash, 7 parry.

Race: Highlander
Realm Rank/Level: 4L5
RAs: Aug Dex 2, Master of Blocking 2, Purge, Faith Heal, Rain of Fire (10% damage add that stacks with other damage adds).

I very happy with it and wouldnt change anything. Currently I can solo oranges and sometimes reds.

Most paladins so i hear have 39 slash and 42 shield so they can get a nice high chant spec, the low slash spec does mean that the damage dealed although not brilliant allows for longetivity, slam llows for a nice long stun to get some nice slash styles off and if you manage to master the art of twisting then you got it made.

LOL you killed a lvl 50 druid ( loip as you say ) and a lvl 50 BM solo
...... considering the BM fully druid buffed then .. BS dude cos its impossible unless the BM had no armor on and was afk , wich means you are a F*** liar who wants to sound tuff

But then, if a Paladin knows how to play his class (twisting especially) he can kill just about any other class in the game - only class I've seen beat a friar in a duel so far...

Malevolencia is the second time you post that stupid screen shot and you try to convince us that i wasn't rez sick. Since you were about to post that screenshot here , why you didn't took an other one that show how many rps i gave you. You had only to press "-" ones more. Plus as everyone can see by the quick bar on your screen i was debuffed too......
Btw i remember well that day was the first time i had duels with some Hibs and MIds . Glacier was there you can ask him. You just caught us after a fight with some Mids, and i had just died. After you left Glacier came alown to mmg and we had some fun duels.

As for Loip and his BM friend yes i killed them both after the amg on the road to Brefine. i was unbuffed and i used only FH cos i didn't had IP and FA2 yet. That incident happen just 2 days after the pach paladins got the endurance chant. Is not my fault they didn't cooperate well. I killed them simple as that.

You can aslo ask Quinlan (warden) and his Ranger friend(missing the name) what gimp i am. Oh and Tradolf too......

Hell i'm not gona write all my victim list here.........

well I didn't bother taking a second screenshot cos it wasn't ever meant as a "haha you're a gimp vermillon" proving picture, I just thought it was funny

and why can you remember that day so well as you put it? can't think why you would remember it unless it's cos it's the day you hit someone whilst non-res sick for your lowest ever damage not as if there's anything else distincitive in that pic to make you know when it was (unless you claim to only have been outside DC once ever in your life on that day rofl).

Oh and I appreciate the /rude each time you saw me tongiht.. made me laugh

[EDIT: oh and btw, even if you were res sick (which you weren't) it'd mean you would have done 36 damage, which is still quite gimpy, just not uber gimpy.. so even if people believe you on your being res sick, it's still gimpy dmg ]

44 slash, 46 chant, 42 shield, 3 parry - thats the way to go, wouldnt ever change it.

can solo reds pretty easily, low purps if buffed.

can beat just about any1 and anything in a duel, even beat 1 blue and 5 hibs in a fight - not conting on a repeat of that tho

RA´s - FH, purge, aug dex 2, MOP 2, toughness 2, aug con 1, aug str 1, avoidance of magic 2.

I remember that day because it was the first time i had duel with a Hippie. Pbuck saw your first post with that screen shot here after 2 days and told me about it.

You could had tryed to kill a caster instead of me. What did you trying to prove there? That you hit hard or something? You picked me from 10+ ppl that was after you, some of them were casters, but still you debuffed and hited me. Hence the /rude ........

To be honest alb has a fair amount of good paladins,vermillon is one of them,i don't find that picture funny i find it quite dishonourable and silly to post something like that.Everyone has a time where they may do a crap hit or so,i have had lw champs hit me for 60 dmg ffs although i wouldn't post it because i know that they usually can do more.

Anyway as for paladins even though i haven't played one i would listen to vermillon,soulfly and yussef they are the best palas in alb imo.

Malevolencia btw you do realise hibs have stupidly good slash resist some of them?mainly bms.... but they have like 50%

I wouldn't claim to be the best Paladin out there - far from it, I play him so rarely these days that I am lucky if I remember how to /stick

That said there are some funny ideas about Paladin's in this thread. Our chants are our character defining attribute. We are never going to hit as hard as armsmen or mercs, and certainly not going to take the damage that armsmen can take.

What we can do is help our group stay alive - protect our casters and healers and take up the enemies resources while the player killers in our groups take the enemy down.

Have grouped with Paladin's in my time who always use the chant they need for themselves ... hell, some of them only use Faith Heal when *they* are injured - they don't use it if the rest of the group is being beaten up, only when its their turn.

To get the best out of being a Paladin spec your chants. Use your chants. Keep your group alive. If you are really worried about how hard you hit then you are playing the wrong character, go roll a caster and do uber damage or be an armsman and be an uber-boring one dimensional kind of guy who can post pictures of hitting people hard

1) I posted that screenie like 4-5 weeks after it happened, not 2 days. I know this because I kept putting off changing it from tga to jpeg format for ages cos I'm a lazy bugger.

2) hmm you honestly think I'm good enough to have picked you out of 10 albs in the space of 1.5 seconds and attacked you on purpose? Thanks for the compliment, but no I'm not that good. Well maybe it'd be possible if I had any idea what you looked like. it's a thing called, "oh crap look 10 albs, 2 of us, hit f8 hit f6 hope I hit something soft".

Uhm matt, dunno what you mean by saying something about BMs having high slash resists? yes I know that, but the pic is of him hitting me, who has base -10% to slash from armour, don't know what effective slash was at that time, prob 16% (ie capped) but not sure.

as for being hit for 60 dmg, prob means a cleric had BoF active for you tbh, or maybe not, I hit cylian for 140~ dmg styled one time, vs a merc that'd prob have been in the 60 dmg region hehe.

Anyway, as I said , pic was just meant as a bit of fun I really meant you no offense vermillon. I apologise for any emotional damage I seem to have caused and will now edit away the link to it. I'm very sorry.

first i thought 18 damage wasnt soooooo gimped for a paladin coz they hit so crap anyway, but after i did 162 damage on maleviolencia unstyled, (though she parried every other hit) 18 does seem pants, and 50 slash is not a good way to go with a paladin, 44 slash max, and atleast 46 in chants. and how do you do 340 damage to me? thats near pure tank damage

well I used my after parry chain on you, which has quite nice bonus dmg on it and also gives bonus to defence (hence why I was lucky enough to parry your other attacks too), and I probably critted too, not sure tho.
