heh, nice SG. You seem to have summed up my whole evening. Apart from the fact that a 5 month old baby, wont just go to bed. In the past she has actually nodded off on my knee whilst Ive been playing CS. (but thats when Mrs Will's out)

Guys,

Starting to get a little fed up with CS. Once you get to the top of the ladder, it starts getting stale

Is it worth giving DoD a try out ?

Remember im on 56k, so im looking for something that is 56k friendly.

Additionaly, can DoD be run from CS Retail or do I need to install and upgrade HL?

DoD is a nice little Fallback when you play too much CS, very fun!

Yep Laz, you can load DoD into cs retail, or so I am told
It is a good game imo, and plays by similar principles to CS, i.e the player prediction meaning you aim at the target, rather than in Quake games where you aim in front of the target .
That was the main thing that fucked me up for ages playing cs, I could get over my q2-inspired "lead in".
i tried q3ut recently, and found myself aiming like in cs when I should have been aiming like Quake ! Very confusing for poor ol' me
The thing I like about dod is the 10 second reinforcements, it works well for my mad charging method of play
The recoil to my mind is also very much more realistic than cs, no lost bullets.

WTF can't connect, says i don't have the maps, looks like the dod i used off a magazine coverdisk was borked, looking i can only see 3 maps in the map folder

Aww, mate! I seem to remember a patch being released for the coverdisk version but that was back at version 2.0 or 2.1.

It had taken me 10 mins to get the password to work. I almost gave up, and suddenly it worked. Any ideas? I don't think I did anything different.

It was the first time I'd played any HL mod with low grav, it was fun trying to shoot Summo as he drifted past, but I do agree with throddy a bit. One or two rounds was a laugh, but you can have too much of a good thing.

At least Summo could be arsed to arrange it all, so it is ungrateful to complain
