"tinfoil" remarks towards French cars are lame .

Whilst it's not the best built car in the world, I don't imagine an old Golf would be made much better.

Seriously, there is no build quality comparison between a 106 and a Golf, and 'tinfoil' isn't a bad description for a 106, and its NCAP sucked too.

That's what worried me about the 106, they are a bit tinny. Both Golfs I've had have been solid and I know them pretty well so I'll be able to judge whether I've got a good un much better than I would with the 106. I've seen some choice GTI 16V's within my price range, a few VR6's too. However the VR6 is more of a luxury Golf and has softer suspension than the GTI meaning it isn't as reponsive in the corners, so I think I'll have another 16v. I fancy a black one this time.....
