Online Flights

Any of you use the internet to book your holidays? If so, where do you book through? I'm looking for bargain basement, real cheap, airplane tickets.

I wanna take Kenny to LA, and we've provisionally put aside to go out on the 20th July and return 2nd August. But is this when the kiddy winkles are unleashed for summer? Or is this the start of a new period of expensiveness? Cos the prices I've found have been extortionate! If it is, we may look to move it back a week. Anyone a pool of knowledge on these subjects?

Have to confess, Im not even sure what is a reasonable price anymore either. What should I be looking to pay?

A free sovenier will be posted to the person who gives the best advice!

P.S. As a phobic of flying, any mention of crashes, terrorists or any such will warrant a spanking.

Take a look at the prices on Expedia and see what the cheapest seats available are then go the travel agents and see if they can match or better them .
You will probably find they can in most cases .
If you intend going to the USA then it wont be thet cheap anyway if you get £300 to £350 for LA you will be doing well .

I was due to fly to Boston last year on September the 17th but events on the 11th put paid to that :( .
At the time i was glad that i had booked with a local travel agent as getting a full refund took only 2 days and if i had booked on the internet who knows .
Very unlikely that something like that could happen again but you can never be 100% sure of anything .

One other thing i was due to fly with Sabena ( Belgium airline ) if i had gone with BA or Virgin i would not have had to cancel as their information was more accessable and up to date so i would not fly with a non British airline again ( unless you aint a Brit of course :) )

Hope some of this helps :)

I'll go from any airport. Gatwick is nearest though.

Munkey, you can't possibly be the most helpful one, because the price of sending a sovenier to Quatar is going to be phenominal. Damn your eyes :)

And yeah, www.cheapflights2losangeles.com lol. Why didn't I think of that!?

I tried Expedia and no joy there, but cheapflights2losangeles actually looks promising. In a flying donkey, sell your barclay card numbers to Latvia kind of way.

Ta Mags :) I don't have much time to do the travel agents trawling, because working full time buggers that. Thats what I've done before, gone to every travel agent in a ten mile radius to find the cheapest flights.

Last time was with Air India. It was... traumatic. But my cheap student like ways have forced those memories into repression and I even looked into flying with them again. Hell, I didn't die (even if half way through my vegetarian meal of stir fried cottage cheese I may have wanted to).

I'd prefer to go through a big name rather than Trusty Tim's backstreet plane shop, but I can't afford to be too fusy.

Yeah it isn't the best time of year to go, its getting into the most expensive part of the peak season. From what i've seen when i looked £450-500 is gonna be about the price you get, thats the sort of prices i was getting from London airports anyway, maybe you can pick up a last minute flight on teletext cheaper though.

for most places peak time for travel is from the second week in july, so you may want to travel before then? Also flights with connections are usually cheap (due to being FAR too loooooooooooong) :)

also the trusty "Cheap flights to LA" in google might be an idea! ;)

I did do a project in my first year of uni that meant I had to look for a cheap flight to NY.... but thats far too long ago(2 1/2yrs) for me to remember the sites!
