Uh.

Um.

Uh.

Our deficit this year will be bigger than that of Greece.

Under what definition can that ever be considered fine?

Total deficit is a bullshit number, it's it's proportion of GDP which is important, were somewhere around 60% these days Greece is more than twice that figure hence the problems. Incidently Germany is much worse than us, only their economy is actually growing at a faster rate so they are looking better in the short term. The UK is decidedly above average, a bit of growth over the next 10 years and no major increases in spending and we'll be laughing again.

If you want to see scary figures you should look at the Japanese defecit levels.

Sorry about the vagueness, I sort of meant how do you think a poll like this on a forum made up of mostly youngish professionals driving sports cars might pan out, if you think a nerd forum was going to be biased against labour?

It's pretty much how it's going in here, if you pushed the liberal votes towards Tory that is.

I'm not sure atm either and am in the slightly awkward position of having moved house today so I'm now registered to vote in one constituency (Richmond) while living in the next one (Twickenham).

If I was voting in Twickenham it'd be no contest because the MP is Vince Cable who I have quite a lot of respect for as not only does he speak sense on the economy but he is also the kind of person I want in parliament - i.e. an MP with a clue!

As it is I've got a choice between Susan Kramer for the Lib Dems (who admittedly seems to do a pretty good job for her constituents) or Zac Goldsmith who is throwing some of his family fortune at the election. I'd prefer a Conservative majority as I think it will be better for the economy and country as a whole however I think the Lib Dem candidate is probably a better MP.

I posted my vote today, decided to tactically vote for my Lib Dem MP to keep Labour out, where I am in Manchester it's effectively a two horse race so voting for anyone else is pointless

Just tactically vote to destroy Labour, they have no reason to be any more, I'd much rather see Tories in Gov and Lib Dems as official opposition.

Conservative for me. The state should serve the people, and not the other way around.

conservative for me too, the lesser of two evils as I've always said, although it's now possibly three evils.

So who's the BNP voter, and worse still who's the labour voter?

OK. Take the quote out of context if you must old bean. I thought I was pretty clear in my post. :)

By fine, I mean, it doesn't really matter who the fuck we vote for - it'll all work out in the next 20 years. The parties only differ on the amount of time it'll take - and then not by much.

You're mad.

Quite possibly. Comes with a sky-high IQ ;)

But I stand by the post and can defend it. What part(s) didn't you like?

And you type too much as well

True. I shall keep my answers short and sweet, should you pose a question :)

3 ppl that cant even be arsed?

atleast vote "blank" to show there isnt anything you agree on enough to vote for. NOT voting at all isnt gonna make them change anything because then your totally outside the records.

if they only see a very small number of blank votes then they think they are doing something right, if they see a large number of blank votes then they might actually look at whats wrong...

Labour don't care though. Someone who doesn't vote is someone who is not voting against them. A lot of people hate them but see no other alternative so just don't bother.
It should be mandatory but have a option of "none of the above"

Voters not turning up to vote tells you a lot. Forcing them to vote removes that information.

Indeed we're nowhere near being in Greece levels of trouble.

Some more info on the reality of this situation: BBC: Stephanomics: Safe haven, for now

I've already (postal) voted for LibDems. But in my constituency all that's likely to do is reduce the Conservative majority. If I'd been in a marginal Tory vs Labour seat I probably would have voted tactically for the Torys, and hated feeling I had to do that. Apparently coalitions have worked well in Scotland and Wales so there's some hope a hung UK parliament won't be a disaster, and as such I really wish it was already some proportional representation system, then I could vote honestly no matter the marginality locally.

I'm undecided.

Lib Dems to make a statement wanting change from the old shit we've had for so long and to send a wake up call to all of them, since where I live is a Tory stronghold, is how I'm leaning. If my vote was going to make a difference though, I'd probably vote Conservative as I do think we need a clear majority winner even if it is some greasy ****.

independent states a 14% growth in voting numbers this time around. Not adjusted for population growth, though, so difficult to make out what it means.

I do find it amusing that it's now considered sound to vote tory but someone owns up to voting labour and we should burn him. What have you people been smoking?

I like that Clegg is trying to pass himself off as a northerner without actually making an outright claim on it. He's Bucks born and bred and posher than Cameron :)

I also noted that his constant passing of all bucks to the 'old parties' and 'these two bickering' were starting to wear thin and caused a lot of groaning and rolleyes in the press circle. Newflash, Clegg is a politician too :)

As far as I'm concerned its just down to basics.

We all know that all politicians are self-serving lying bastards, thats why the want the job in the first place. But the last 10 odd years have proved that Labour are the party of "its-for-your-own-good" and will bring in as many laws as they can to make sure you do what they think is for your own good. Regardless of whether you agree or not.

Add that to thier constant theory that to makes things "fair" you need to bring every one down to the lowest level possible adds up to disaster for anyone in this country who thinks for themself and wants to work to earn money for themselves and thier family.

Check the Liberal manifesto, its - in these two contexts - no different from the Labour one.

I will not vote for any more lefty nanny state bullshit.

Sorry. Long post.

as said in another thread ive seen the benefits of having labour in power in that my region has been massively rejuvinated (south yorkshire) alot of which was opposed by the tories as pointless spending (creating jobs after the pits closed)

know alot of you are voting tories and im not gonna tell you to do otherwise on a regional level labour have been a force for good in my region im in a well paid job (industrial) that wouldnt have exsisted if the tories had been in power.

labour arent perfect, far from it, but neither are the other two. clegg i have very real concerns over his nuclear defence policies. cameron to me is a wolf in sheeps clothing, i think hes shallow and will do what the tories always do fuck off the poor and look after the rich.

labour need a really good kick up the ass they have become terribly complacent the last few years and im hoping if they retain power this will shake them up a bit.
