that BT are still trying to enforce this bloody hyperlink patent they claim to have. What a shower of c**ts. Now Im in Ireland, so what do I care I hear you cry? Well, BT have bought Esat Telecom, our main competitor to Eircom, our local BT equivalent, so we are fuxx0r3d over here atm.

BTW, have any of you guys actually managed to get DSL yet from BT?

er I presume you mean no :)

The reason I ask is that over here, Local Loop Unbundling has yet to happen. BT (as Esat) are currently dissing Eircom for not providing access to switches and claiming that they could roll out DSL tomorrow if given the chance. My suspicion, which you have just confirmed, is that they are taking a calulcated gamble that the switches will remain OOB for at least 6 months and that if they were provided with access tomorrow, they would be fuxx0r3d.

It is just that the hypocrisy of these cos really pisses me off

s like that the world over m8 :(
anyone who'd fancy some extra bandwidth and doesn't have 20K in da bank is 5{r3wD royally.

I am thinking about getting dsl myself. Luckily, over here the stuff is in the ground already but the costs (!) ye gods! I can't believe the b4$t4rd5 are allowed to charge so much.

I have an up and running aDSL. It was supplied from Easynet and runs over BT routers. It's a business package and was installed a month ago. Best of all, it's wayyyyy fast :D

as I'm on cable, and also telephone via that medium, I'd have to get the PTT [dutch BT] to reconnect me to the phone network [$$$]. then I'd have to get the adsl package [$$$], then I'd have to subscribe to a dsl-provider as not all of the isp's do it at this stage [$] and my monthly rate would go up [$$]

I do not know the exact rates, but I'll find out soon enough. I'm thinking about a 512/256Kbit package but I'd really want the 1024/512 one [drools].

I'm still not sure tho, cos I'm only doing it for the upstream. That is piss poor on cable [~64kbit] or so.

Atm I pay 89 guilders [~30 pounds] for internet and around 30 guilders [~10 pounds] for phone so you can compare if you want :)

-Luap, the traveler hehe lo m8, wb. Gosh you must have a screen full of them little blue 'new post' thingys :D:D had any fun over there on the other side of the pond?
