Great film, but I've just noticed something strange. Has anybody else noted the similarities between their 'Soggy Bottom Boys' song, and Queens 'Fat Bottomed Girls'?

They sound very similar, I wonder if there's a reference there?

Though really from the sample up there, I vastly prefer the "Soggy Bottom Boys"' version.

I enjoyed this film too. I thought it was going to be crap but I was pleasantly surprised!

I dont see the connection with the two songs Tom mentioned other than the names are a bit similar.

Wrong song Louster. The one I'm referring to is the one they sing at the radio station, and then later at the fete.

/edit: same song, different arrangement, my mistake

Yep and that song is "Man of Constant Sorrow", which is what that song I linked to is. The only other song they sing is "In the Jailhouse Now" which I can't imagine you comparing to Fat Bottomed Girls.

No, its not the same tune.

*does some digital trickery and creates file for comparison*

Actually from a bit more googling it looks like one of those ye olde traditional songs, so everyone's version is a cover, or something. More info here.

And I'm saying it seems unlikely that it's a reference, considering that the Constant Sorrow song predates "Fat Bottomed Girls" by quite a long period. I listened to those two songs out of curiosity as the first thing I did in response to this thread, and the only similarity I noticed was the chord progression, really.

Constant Sorrow dates from the 1900s, stupid Queen not ripping off old bluegrass songs.
