Forgot to mention, I was surprised no-one noticed or brought up the fact me and English have the same avatars and picked on me once he was out :D

Oh, I guess you do! I was too busy wrapping my brain around other things to notice. :D

Btw my job was to cure the psychopat (rubric it seemed) but he got killed first night so my job was done/over. lucky because he would kill randomly people

By the way Calo, your job wasn't over if i understood the rules right... if the psychopath gets cured or dies (which he did) the psychiatrist becomes a regular doctor. Basicly we had two doctors from day two!

I could roleblock each night,

if i roleblocked you, your investigation wouldnt come back etc, though its not what we wanted. We kinda knew I would get slain with about 5 people left, so i took the bullet for my team and let Kir vote me off to try hide him some.

I am curious though, what would you have said to convince Vas? I bet it would have been something about how I as a mafia could easily have "investigated" Vas on the first round and id'd him as a townie (with no risk of getting caught since the cop can't tell specific roles), and then done the same for Cerb and Lethul. Cerb was even easier being linked with Invisible.

In that last round, I couldn't have tried to persuade Vas. The thing is, I knew that once the report came back, Vas couldn't have thought you were Mafia. If you WERE mafia, there would have been no reason whatsoever to call me up as a townie. I would have had to persuade you some even though I didn't think it was going to happen.

Back when there were 7 people left, we knew English was going to die and that it'd be a pretty much impossible game to win outright so we just tried to keep going as long as we could.

We basically had English roleblocking Lethul all the way through so that we wouldn't get a nasty surprise when trying to kill someone. We wanted for you to investigate me, then we were going to roleblock lethul and kill you thus showing to everyone that you were indeed a cop AND you'd cleared me. Sadly you didn't do that until the very last round when it was too late. Had you of investigated me just one round earlier, things might have been a little different but I still think we would have met the same fate, just with different people involved.

We kept Lethul in as long as we did because we knew he was someone you'd potentially lynch still; as soon as English died, I had to kill him, otherwise I could of had one of my nights blocked and been out earlier.

A lot of ifs and buts involved, if the game got to a size of about 15 people I think it'd be wise to get 3 mafia involved or maybe two gangs of mafia; as it stood with 11 people it was sort of in between whether it'd be worth having two or three. Two was very difficult, three woulda been a lot easier though I think. The special roles handed out made for a very interesting, tight game but needing just one person left as a the final mafia guy was not going to happen :)

As I said before, by not investigating me early, you won the game very early on Levin, it was just a matter of time until we died ;)

YES!!!!! *highfives Vas* :D

Dear lord that was fun! Kirennia, you're one devious SOB! It wasn't until we lynched Calo that I knew 100% you were the main man, even if i strongly suspected you before then. It was interesting how, at the end of the game, I got kind of immune as a cop since my death would pinpoint you. Then again, if Vas had been the Godfather he would have won so HARD.. that's what I was really afraid of until we got the message that Cerb had been slain.

Iceforge, about your questions. I felt, since I couldn't investigate specific roles, it would have been extremely easy for a mafia to counterclaim my cop role and for them to start pointing out innocents as well. Then again, maybe it's a balance issue.. i just saw it as terrible from my cop point of view. :)

About PMs when night phase is over.. nah, no need. At least it worked nicely in this game without them.

About roles.. it seemed pretty advanced to me! It was definately not too basic! I didn't even know there was a roleblocker. Did you mean to say English could block other people's roles? In your description it says "can't" block...

I would love to see a transcript, as long as it's okay with the people involved.

Lastly, thank you so much Iceforge for a great fun game! Oh and please don't make me a cop again in the next game - nobody would believe me! :(

2 points I'd like to adress there.

1) The point is excatly that it should be easy for the mafia to claim to be a cop. Mafia have the big disadvantage of being the minority, but due to all the knowledge they have (knowing each other, being able to speak to each other, etc) they gain a big advantage. In a game like this with only 2 mafia, it is a stupid move, but if there was like 4 mafia in a 20-25person game, 1 could easily sacrifice himself, counter-claiming a cop and getting the cop lynched. Next day he would probarly be lynched himself due to the cop role being revealed.

2) Yeah, English could block anybody. The can't is because I dont spellcheck my own notepad notes, sorry.

Also, to the arguement about last day.

What if Levin had been the godfather all along.

Okay, any other cop, who choose not to counter claim but investigaed him would get a pro-town read and have to conclude there might be 2 cops in the game. Meaning it wasn't a big risk

Now, Levin, on the last day in this example, knowing that Kirennia was a pro-town role, he would try and pursaude Vasconcelos the strongest he could. If he claimed "Yeah, found out Kirennia was scum!" and then before Vasconcelos acted, Kirennia stated the fact that none of them knew for sure Levin was a cop and claimed whatever role (vanilla townie), and said there probarly wasn't a cop and Levin knew they was townies during his other claims due to being a mob, Vasconcelos might have thought it through and they had ended up killing Levin and won, but they going ahead of all that, claiming he got a town read, saying there had to be a scum in the game, he could 100% lead Vasconcelos, as he effectively removed any counter arguements Kirennia could make, by simply stating "If I was not cop, but scum, I would have said Kirennia was scum, but you know you can trust me, I did not lie!"
A self-confirming thing.
But that is a pretty advanced and somewhat risky strategy.

I dont know how many of you guys has read more than the newbie page on the mafia scum page, but I guess it wont hurt to post some of the roles here that I like and MIGHT include in future games, i.e. don't expect them to be in the next game just because I mention them here:

Townie roles:

Cop (sane), can investigate and find out if people are connected or not connected to the mafia
-Insane cop, gets random read on everybody investigated
-worthless cop, gets wrong read on everybody investigated
-paranoid cop, gets guilty read on everybody investigated
-naive cop, gets innocent read on everybody investigated
No matter what type of Cop, the player always thinks he is a sane cop and has to figure it out for himself

Doctor, can protect 1 target from nightkill each night!
Bonus info: Most don't realise, but the target CAN be the doctor himself
Bonus info: If the person is targetted by 2 nightkills (from mafia and SK, for instance), the target still dies!
-quack, thinks he is normal doctor by actually kills the one he protects

Vigilante, can perform nightkill each night
-Remorse Ridden Vigilante, can perform nightkill each night, but commits suicide if he accidentially kills a townie. Vigilante is often informed when this is the case.

Jester, wins if he gets himself lynched, often restricted to having to get lynched on day 1 and then becomes vanilla townie if he fails. If the jester wins day 1, game normally continue to determine 2nd place among the remaining parties.

Lyncher, has to a specific target they need to get lynched day 1. Becomes normally townie after day 1, even if they win. Game continues to determine 2nd place among the remaining parties

Lynchee, the target of the lyncher.

FBI agent. Like cop, but can find the Godfather as guilty as well. In small games, he can usually ONLY find out who the godfather is and not who the rest of the mafia is

Psychiatrist, can cure Phychopath type Serial Killers. Various from game to game if the Serial Killer knows he can be cured (In this game, Rubric knew there was a Physchiatrist)

Hero, normal townie that is immune to the first nightkill done to them. Often confuses town more than he benifits, as the doctor thinks the one he protected was target and sometimes clears a mafia off as a suspect due to that.

Vanilla Townie, normal townie

Masons, group of townies who knows each other to be innocent (see traitor below through)

Mafia roles:

Godfather. Immune to cop investigations. Sends in the nightkills (usually)

Roleblocker. Can block the nightaction of 1 player each night.

Recruiter, Can recruit 1 townie into the mafia on night 3 and every 3 nights after that (only really usefull in huge games)

Goon, normal mafia

Traitor, infiltrated into a mason group and considered confirmed town for those in the mason group. Still shows up guilty to cops. Should never be masoned with the cop!

3rd party roles:

Serial Killer, MUST kill 1 each night, if a phychopath, he can be cured by the Psychiatrist.

Cult Leader, can recurit 1 person into his cult each night. All in the cult know each other and can speak together durin night. They have to kill all mafia and all town to win.

Sometimes Jester and Lyncher is seen as 3rd party roles, when seen as thus, they usually dont win with the town if they fail their mission, but are often allowed to win on any day instead of just day 1.

Crazy roles that are just there for fun:

The useless Super-powered townie! Must perform 1 nightkill and 1 doctor protection each night! Can only choose 1 target. Is in essense just a vanilla townie with a weird role pm! Enjoy!

The Author, gets to write the dusk and dawn scenes of the game through PMs. Fun role, but unfortunately tends to slow the game down a bit! Often comes with a 24 hour reply restriction to prevent it halting the game to much

Crazy alterations to make to make the game more interesting:

Post restriction; 1 or more people (if not all) in the game gets a post restriction. These can be everything from "Sp34k in l33t sp34k" to "YELL A LOT AND USE EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!! YOU ARE EXCITED!!!"

Kirennia, on a side note, you was way to headstrong! I liked your arguement on day 1, that you wanted to be cleared due to having been killed so early in the 2 other games, but after that you just seemed to make yourself a none suspect by keep begging for investigations, which is why I think Levin didnt investigate you earlier; He trusted you anyway.
Throwing in a scummy remark once in a while, without overdoing it (avoid being lynched), but enough for Levin to actually think you might be scum might have worked better. But so easy for me to sit and be a wise guy, I know EVERYTHING when I am the moderator, lol :D

I am so spamming here right now, but the log for those who wanted it! I dont think this will harm anyone in future games anyway when everybody get access to it:

Night 1 -
Rubric target Calo for Physcho nightkill
Levin target Vasconcelos for investigation
Calo targets (Invisibletank) for cure.
Kirennia targets Rubric for Mafia Nightkill
Lethul targets Calo with Protection/doctor
-English- targets invisibletank with roleblocking

Night 2:
Levin target Calo for investigation(-mod note: Is that actually true? I forgot if thats true! Levin, did you actually know Calo was innocent when you was part of getting him lynched? Or did I put down a wrong note in my notepad? Would make more sense if you investigated Cerb that night actually)
Kirennia targets invisibletank for Mafia Nightkill
Lethul targets Levin with Protection/doctor
-English- targets Lethul with roleblocking

Night 3:
Levin target Lethul for investigation
Kirennia targets Lethul for Mafia Nightkill
Lethul target Levin for doctor/protection

Night 4:
Kirennia targets Cerb for nightkill
Levin investigates Kirennia

This is probably the most active mafia game ever.

For that I thank thot!

So.. Is there anyone a bit crazy in their head? :p

Calo clearly the shrink and he was my first target on night one if the mafia hadn't popped a cap in my ass on night one.

i think keeping roles secret is a good thing and no need for pm's

Its all good ice, well done and thanks again.

No no no!

Lethul saved Calo!

In case of 1 nightkiller targetting another nightkiller who targets a thirdparty, both kills goes in.

I.e. if Lethul had not protected Calo, both Rubric and Calo would have died first night.

In case of 2 nightkiller targetting each other, the quickest kill goes in. The order of is decided in the start to create balance. In this game, if Kirennia had targetted Rubric and Rubric targetted Kirennia, Rubric would have died and Kirennia lived, due to Mafia being outnumbered so greatly by town.

Rubric actually had the toughest role in this game.

Exception to the above is if it ends in a 1 vs 1 (I.e. if it there is 3 left and both Rubric and Kirennia target 3rd for nightkill, leaving it with Kir vs Rub, or if they had lynched 3rd party, also leaving it as Kir vs. Rub) in which case a SK always wins.

It could be argued that Rubric was unfairly disadvantaged in this game, but didnt matter much when he died so early anyway. But compared to Kirennia, they both had investigation immunity, could both nightkill, but Kirennia had a quicker kill + roleblocking partner, so perhaps it was a bad decision ny me, but I felt the mafia was just not going to cut it if they lost that edge.

Hehe thank you lethul!

Actually knew i was very suspicous in this game from the start, didn't know that Rubric had to win it all by himself, actually thought the psyco wanted to get cure so i did a little "obvious" sentence/request in a post.

Btw i would never believed you kir if you turned out innocent by levin.
It was for me vasc/kir or english and english was way to quiet so i had to lynch/bandwagon him before everyone got on me.

Its great that iceforged gave some role info because you can't always trust the cop, if he's a paranoid cop he will lynch totally innocent people without knowing!

Oh well, tried my best for the townies but i knew i was going to get lynched 100%

A fun thing about the worthless cop by the way, is that off the none sane cops, he is the most usefull, as once he figures out he is indeed worthless, he can use it to find scum, as all scum will show up innocent.

Can the worthless cop (or any cop for that matter) investigate themselves?

Never really thought about that, but I would say no, as he could ofc always get innocent on himself, knowing his own connections already.

Hehe, aye. :) In general all these roles and exceptions (lousy cops etc) will make using logic very very difficult and games a lot more random. But on the other hand, and probably more importantly, more people will have special roles and more people will have fun. So i'm all for it! :D

Yeah! Through, it is generally (atleast on forums where I play) seen as the norm to inform the players the game is tagged "special" or "bastard" if you want to use none-standard role like not-sane cops
