I think the poor enchanters should get nearsight too. In the mana line of course. And an insta mez. To mez zerkers running at them.

I do think PBAE needs to be toned down, and no I'm not talking about the damage output. As the various chanters on this thread have pointed out, the short range and radius-dependant damage limitations on PBAE do justify it being the most damaging nuke in the game as it's the hardest to use well.
But there are somethings that do need addressing. The main of these is the ability to nuke through walls / doors etc. I've done it in the past with my ice wiz and took out 5 lvl 50 hibs in about 20 secs, and I was only lvl 42 at the time. In hindsight this is a bit much. I can see some justification for nuking though doors, in the same way people can use doors as a centre for ranged AE spells, but not through walls.
I also think the 9 sec baseline stun should be either toned down or made spec line.
And for god's sake fix the pet's LoS problems. As a stealther this winds be up more than anything, and I'm not talking about chanters here, but all pet classes of every realm.

I've been playing around with a chanter on excal. Dunno how well it scales to later levels (quite well, presumably, from the damage I've taken on my alb-pryd main from chanters), but what I've found so far:

Pet capable of soloing an orange con range-using mob (IE stops and tries to shoot the pet while pet is nuking back).

Very high damage DD and PBAOE in the same line.

Group speed.

Pet snare/dd lets you get away easily and recommence nuking if mob gets to melee range.

Hell, soloing a group of 3 mobs (2 yellow, 1 orange) isn't overpowered?

You had foreseen this and started to quickcast stun early.

my "9" sec stun hits while 2 sec is left of interupt.

Well no worries takes 2 seconds after last quickcast to start casting again...

Start casting, 4 PBAE before Stun runs out.

Zerker chops, gets stunned, humm heat resist affect stun you say. Ouch he was in a group he has 16% heat buff in addition to capped heat 26% and AoM 2, 48% heat resist.

Okay no problem 4.5 second stun gives place for at least 1-2 PBAE if you are lucky. if you get a help nuke from a friend you might drop him before he IPs.

Wooot 1.54? Determination 3?

ouch ouch ouch stun is down to 2.25 seconds.

so he haves 0.25 seconds to fire off 3-4 PBAE to kill the zerker?
FFS zerkers/mercenaries/arsmans/warriors don't even bother to purge my stun because it won't stop em the slighest.

i will think about all that next time im playing a zerker and rushing a chanter. especially having aom, determination and the heat resist buf. and also i will make sure to run up to the chanter and hit him atleast once before he manages to cast. and i will pray that his group wasnt as optimized as mine was with the heat debuf and speed and all.

Coren the man of skill was talking about this in irc last night. Maybe you should take some tips from him. He agrees that PBAOE is not overpowerd. Although moc is.

Why don't you learn from your mistakes? The reason me, Teador and the rest get all that kill spam is because you let us walk right up to you, and pbaoe the hell out of you, while you go spanking the tanks with 2000+ hp.

Stop being so dam stupid. When you learn skill, and not just randomly hiting any F**ker on the battlefield, thats when you will realise pbaoe is not overpowerd .

And if you fail in that, roll a Ice Wiz/Sup SM..
Anyway thats my two cents.

ahh ok, so 1 situation when your class have to face the reality of the other classes.
Does that change how good chanter stun is in other fights ?
dont you have an DD ?
Do you HAVE to run in and pbaoe every fight ?


You run in to a fight, thats not "secured" and that makes your class not overpowerd.

Yea Nuclerweapons arent overpowerd in a gun fight unless you know how to handle it.

Yeah I also use cheat program so I know which tanks have targeted me, then I press my 2 button where I have macroed autotarget last person that targets me, heat debuff, stun, move to their exact location and then PBAE until the person is dead.

Especially after I have tricked the server to not hit me with any instas from the other realm and/or mezz/stun.

Kinda like Tank then ?
You dont need skill to spam pbaoe, but you need "skill" to do it correct.

Oh, so remove all other classes stun and mezz, and instants.

OFC anything of that can happend, if it does they did right,
and in most fights you can see if someone goes for you.
ofc you dont in every fight, if you did then you would be extremly good, but that doesnt change the fact that chanters can get fullduration stun(determination excluded).


There is situation where it works and theres sitations were it doesnt, hey same goes for every class.

You know.. i started to suspect after his first post and im getting more and more certain
