beleive me, rest on a broken rib, other wise it might fix, but in a deformed position permanently causing you problems, and it will need to be re broken just to get it to fix in the right place, and yes that does happen :/

I went karting a few years ago, and had a whale of a time. Until my mate's brother t-boned me into a corner, and knocked the stuffing out of me. All good fun, but I was in serious pain around my lower left ribcage for a good 3-4 months. It didn't hurt if I pressed on it, just sometimes as I moved, or breathed. Anyway, its fine now, but it does take a while.

It probably didn't help that I didn't give it any rest at all, or have any kind of a checkup.

I wouldn't go cycling just yet Will, you'll really feel the pain as you're pounding up some hill or other. Leave it for a couple of weeks, then try it.

Funny that, when I sit down for a while, I get slight pains around my heart (but on the outside of the ribcage).

Right where I hurt it karting......

it can happen on any broken bone, if you dont have it put where it should be when its healing, it will mend "deformed" as such, i know some one who had to re break there finger just to have it mend the right way :eek7:

that happened to my arm. NHS set it in a cast, few months later they take it off and send me off home. Then they phone up later that day to say "sorry, but we appear to have messed up the operation, we're going to have to break your arm again and put pins in it, ok?"

Bastards. Still got the scars on my wrists where they put them in. Quite distressing to compare it to the other arm/look at old photos and think "wow, that arm used to be normal"

At least it is to me :/

Well, it has become very obvious now that my rib is actually broken, rather than just being some severe bruising. I'm taking a week off cycling to let it heal up, which I'm so unimpressed with. I really enjoy cycling to work. I may have got out of helping my girlfriend move house at the Easter weekend though. She isn't very impressed, even though it's obviously not my fault.

Have you been to the doctors Will? You really should. Broken bones next to important things like internal organs should at least be looked at, just to make sure? What if it's not a clean break?

I've not been to the doctors, no...I didn't even know for sure it was broken until Sunday. If it gets any worse, I am going to go to the doctors, but it isn't actually sore unless I lie on it, or bump it against something.

Though some time off work would be nice...I might go to A&E tomorrow morning.

Will. It is a piece of broken bone that nestles right up by your lungs.

Go To The Doctor.

I'm assuming by the fact that Will isn't back and busy telling us about how he's about to go out trampoling, or figure skating, or mountain biking that there is either a massive queue at the hospital, or that the doctors agreed that he needed to be xrayed, probed and generally wrapped up in cotton wool.

Your bets please...

Edit:// Every way I try to spell trampolining it looks deranged. trampoleening?

I hope he can get a copy of the x-ray and show it on here, that'd be neat.
