i think the frenchies got told off because they were trying to hack the client to access the server and a GM went on and told them off and only change things if it says on the offical site:

I'm not joking. Gorre runs 1.70, and the other servers will remain 1.69 until the beta test is complete. So if you wish to play on the 'old' servers while still being able to play on Gorre, you'll need to make a copy of your ToA folder.

Or, if you wish, you can just keep patching 1.69 -> 1.70 and back, but, it's about 10 mb every time you do that.

to be fair, GOA were saying it was a strain on there office everyone downloading the NF TOA client, imagine what it will be like (and yes the servers have been lagging since you put it up so they cant say its not them) when they put up the SI client / Super Classic etc

and tbh... remember the lags when excalibur was running on a slower server ?
Now imagine 3500 ppl all in frontiers on Gorre. I don't think Gorre server is very fast, considering it is a test server

use the time waiting for gorre to come up by patching to 1.70.
yes, you need to do that after installing the NF patch, change your update.dat to

193.252.123.9:1280/updates/english/atlantis/mpatch.dat

(you see the only difference is the 9 in the ip adress, this is working already and when gorre comes up you can connect immeadiately and not wait again till the 10MB patch is arrived

got that info from german forums btw, seems confirmed and is working for me, patching atm...

i believe gorre isnt just one pc i believe it is a hive of a number of PCs for each zone.. correct me if its wrong but thats how they do it on US

Did you read the friday news??

Thats not what it said. The patch can be installed to your standard directory and both versions played.

Quote form the news:

'he installation of this final version of the New Frontiers client for ToA in your game's directory won't prevent you from playing on the normal servers. '

You really should read the news before telling people to tke unecessary steps...
