Still getting one though. :)
Will probably wait until a few brands have release theirs...
Wondering what ASUS and Samsung will do with this. (Big fan of ASUS tablets atm)

Mini bump for this thread. Anybody else still excited about the Surface?
I'm so tempted by the RT version, I know its not perfect windows, but it comes bundled with Onenote and the standard office suite, which is all I really use my laptop for anyway. Prices were vaguely hinted at yesterday at the RT being around $200-300 which will probably be £200 ish i guess.
Very keen to see one in the flesh!

Yes I am! I think it would be ideal in a work environment where you need access to all your usual MS Office apps.

It's pretty much a pc in a tablet form.

You could almost ditch the work pc for this and use it in a dock and take it to meetings at home with you.

Unofficial sources and some smaller news sites (Note: May have become official since me finding out) are saying £400-£500.

I've been umm-ing and ahh-ing about buying a laptop/tablet for a long time..

In an ideal world, I want something like an ultrabook as the convenience/size would be a great help, but I can't justify the cost of £600-1000 when I could get a pretty decent and not oversized laptop for £400.

Then I thought about tablets.. but if I had one, I'd still need a laptop for doing work on the move..

Sooo.. perhaps this could be a solution :) Looks pretty.

But.. are Microsoft aware.. it has ROUNDED CORNERS. I hope they licensed them off Apple. :giggle:

pro for on the road gaming, keeping an eye on the Razer Tablet as well. Razer might be easier for MMO setups.

Which is better overall? I've read reviews on both and I guess they both have their pros and cons but is there anyone here who owns either?
£180 vs £359 (i get 10% off where i buy from) is big price difference.

I haven't really looked at a Samsung Tab 10.1, I just had a play today with the Nexus 7 and really liked it, I particularly liked the size, the iPad just feels slightly too big whenever I hold one.

MS Surface hasn't really caught my eye to be honest and isn't something I'm considering, guess I'll have a browse round.

Just got back from Tesco with my new toy! Went for the Nexus 7 had a play with both again the Nexus 7 just felt like I was getting a great product for £180 compared to £359 for the iPad.

I haven't used Android since my Samsung Galaxy S which was a year or two ago so should be interesting getting used to how customisable Android is again.

Recently got a iPad3 after 18 months of Android, taking a bit of getting used to tbh, but starting to come out the other side. In terms of hardware it's pretty awesome and the app store is better than play (imo).

7 inches just wasn't enough.

I took the Nexus back this morning and got an iPad 3, the play store was rubbish in terms of content, no tv shows wtf?

Also as usual some apps didn't work or just worked poorly BBC iPlayer for example was horrible.

Fired the iPad up about an hour ago installed all the apps I wanted and all work flawlessly and I've found better games on the apple game store.

I tried the inexpensive Tablet but it just didn't compare to iPad, lesson learned.

Not exactly comparable Tabs anyway. Wouldn't it have made sense to wait until next week for the iPad Mini?

Maybe it was the OS that pissed me off more than the actual hardware because the Nexus itself was fine it was just when I went to install apps that didn't work purely because it was a tablet and wasn't compatible with various apps.

My Xbox live app would not start just got a message saying incompatible device, bbc iplayer ran like a dirty pig, just a couple of examples of problems I ran into.

Their movie store was not great and they didn't sell tv shows wtf?!?

Said apps both work fine on iPad no problems no fuss, thats something Android need to sort out.

Oh the screen, fuck me is it good on this.

I got a free Nexus 7 (supplier ditching 8 and 16gb stock) so I sold my iPad and it was a mistake. The iPad is so much smoother and more refined. Apps are also a problem with the Apple option often looking more polished (this is not the same app just the app that does the same job). Also Apps like SkyGo can only be used if you root the device and bla bla bla.

The iPad and iOS is just more of a finished product and if the price is in your range then it is the one to get.

My experience exactly, just having a really cool time with the iPad so far am really happy I exchanged for it and so is the wife, can't get her off the bloody thing.

Nexus 7 easily. I've got both. I love the iPad (yes, even me) for what I use it for but the size of the 7 is just so much better overall. Plus, the Nexus isn't Apple therefore you can do what the smeg you like with it. And the price difference is - well, different.

If you have to ask that, you're looking at the wrong product. These aren't items you'd want to be officing on for any length of time.

Bit like all the people that tell me "I want to buy x amount of tablets for my school, how do we link them to our network and open existing files and browse our shared areas and use our windows apps..."
x amount of laptops later, they're usually happy.

well it would be nice to look over some college stuff like an excel spreadsheet or something on a 1h to 1 and a half hour train home, rather than just sitting there scratching my nuts :p
