AS topic says darklight is way too powerful.

Its like impossible for me to make it anywear as my inf cos everyone hs darklight.

I think it should either be nerfed (range) or it made harder to get like some implats you cant get till later BR's like darklight at say 10-12

Totally and utterly agree.

100%.

There should be SOME limits on it, no matter how powerful people think the infiltration suit is, that way overpowers it, you can't do anything. Even if you're not a hacker, if you go within about oh 200m of an enemy, they'll automatically switch on darklight and kill you in at most 4 shots.

</rant>

I really hate darklight, as you might have guessed :p

Yeah I agree it's too cheap. Should drain stamina about 5 times faster than it currently does. Or even have a little timer on it. Infils are easy enough to kill without darklight, I'd imagine very few have made it past me since I got it.

Only time they've ever killed me is when I've been really low on health or away from the keyboard tbh.

Feel almost guilty flicking on darklight to see a guy hiding in the corner.... bang bang, easy kill.

Maybe you should stop being so aggressive? What, you got insecurities?

DL is a bitch for stealthers, but conversely the stealth suit is a bit overpowered. I was getting my ass kicked repeatedly by stealthers (Bear in mind I wear a reinforced exosuit) and was not best happy, but I changed my implant to DL and killed them easy.

It needs a bit of rebalancing, that's all.

handy for spotting infils close by, especially when they are stationary

if they remove DL, they will have to make it so that shooting/attacking will momentarily take you out of stealth tho

still, I can take out infils at 8x zoom range (150-200m) even when they're moving... poor buggers never saw it coming

No offense but people who are complaining about DV are not using the infil suit right. Have you even thought of using jammers or teaming up ? One jammer in middle of enemy soldiers and bubye implants till recharge. I did it and guess what.. i killed all 3 without any problems. you can complain about limited inventory or sniper rifles with the FoF thing but i honestly see no argument that could nerf DV.

Please don't say nerf.
I hate that word, and you know what? Devs love it.

"Hmm someone wants a nerf?" they say
"Well let it be so, because we are your Gods and you will taste the wrath of our supreme dev-ness."

Then they fuck the game over until it resembles "Horace Goes Skiing", just like DAOC really.

I have to laugh at people whining about DL. I can see inf's most of the time without it...

When you see the Darklight symbol next to a searching players name, you should already be reaching for that sprint button.

Without Surge though, you probably won't make it that far.;)

I don't necessarily think they should -remove- darklight, they should just give us some way to counter it. Jammer grenades are a good idea, I will have to start carrying some, the problem is that quite often, I don't get a minute to throw one, as someone spots me and I'm dead before I can react.

I did have DL then i realised that 95% of infils are complete morons  so i got adv targeting instead ...

Actually I'm not playing my infil at moment, having too much fun in my Lightning except when we have no engineers and my paper armour gets shredded.

Infs aren't as overpowered on here as they were on DAoC release though.

very true which is why it's annoying that there's something so powerful against them again. I know jammer grenades fubar it up, but still, you have to have a chance to throw one.

And the fact that you can change implants whenever you want means that people get DL just to see what it's like, or if they're going into a heavy base-cap fight just in case, and stuff.

Argh. Don't get me started on this, i really really hate DL :)

My main is an infil, and I think I've killed maybe 2 people in all the times I've played. I'm careful, and unless absolutely necessary I don't "go where most ppl are". At the start of retail, when everybody didn't have DL, I managed to evade 30 NC troops to hack a base, so I do know what I'm doing here.

You must have been extremely lucky not to have run afoul of DL, either that or you constantly stick to completely undefended bases, and that imo is not always a hacker's role.

And as for albs whining on nerfs in PS, I don't consider it whining, simply stating an opinion.

And if it doesn't need a nerf, answer me this. How can someone with darklight manage to solo 4 infils trying to hack an undefended base (person in question not in max or with heavy weaponry).

It doesn't need a complete nerf, it needs balancing.

Out of interest, what empire/char do you play?

Well I can understand why infils really want DV 'nerfed'. But I think it's fine as it is. Sure it really screws you infils over but they have chosen DV over the other implants and so don't have the other ones available. It's useful for killing stealthers ONLY unlike the other implants which can help in a lot of situations like the personal shield implant for protection against a wide range of enemies, or surge to run quickly from all enemies etc. This is a real bitch for stealthers yeah but if an implant was available to counter-act DV then every infil would have it, which would just be silly imo :)

I do agree though that just like the certification respec, implants should also have an 'unlearn' timer.

Then how in hell can you say that darklight isn't a problem if you have been in bases where there's enemies.

*shakes head*

Either we're playing different games or something's a bit screwed here...

And yes, I know no armour on an infil, but 1 person, I did say without much weapons spec and no armour spec (above agile) shouldn't be able to take down 4 of anything without even getting hit.

I wouldn't have too many problems with it, if that were true. Unfortunately due to the fact that you can change implants as and when you want, they can have darklight for half an hour in a frenzied base defence, then switch to advanced targeting to do some sniping etcetc.

I actually found Amplify Audio more useful in infi hunting, and it has more utility in general.
But if people think it's overpowered, rather than starting to wield the nerfbat it could maybe exist as a Tier2 implant. Have Darklight, an improved version of the personal shield and something else require BR12 to access them. Only danger in having higher levels of implant is you gotta avoid the destruction of balance that RA's brought to DAoC.

Buh, thinking about it, just make DL need audio amp as a prerequisit rather than nerf it.

Prerequisites isn't a bad way to go.

Then you couldn't switch quite so easily. Also I think there needs to be a timer on changing implants. Maybe not 24 hours, but a couple of hours at least.

Agree on the timer, and agree it can't be 24 hours.
Ideally, it'd be an allocation of stationary time while the work is done - even 5 or so minutes would be enough to stop the whimsical implant swapping, and certainly make implant changes during battle in a base a lot more dangerous.
It would prevent instant swapping to DL/audio for infi hunting in particular, and still be fairly painless back at Sanc - stick your implant on to install while you get a coffee and wait for the HART to land.
