Does nobody enjoy a good debate anymore?
The purpose of the Fact -> Logic -> New Fact approach is that it explains the reasoning behind opinions and allows people to weigh up the virtues of an arguement and challenge the individual premices or the validity of logical steps without a heavy reliance on personal experience. Thus allowing people from very different experiences to better understand one anothers' views.

My ideas are not set in stone. I was raised mostly as a scientist of which one of the important things I learned was that I can never be sure I won't be proved wrong. It happens all the time. Infact, I'd invite people to do it. I'd rather be shown to be wrong and then better understand something, than be wrong for far longer and not know it. The points presented are not in "defence" of my point of view rather they are the source of it. In other words if doubt can be raised regarding these points then doubt is raised in my view of the subject as a whole and thus is my opinion changed.

If you don't have the time for a discussion then that's ok, but please don't leave it because of a belief that I cannot be reasoned with. I enjoy being taught.

Ok lets look at it this way, teachers are meant to set an example for the kids that go to there school. By this they need to dress smartly (apart from the P.E teachers) then need to be clean etc etc.

If they want kids not to have beards or whatever then the teachers themselves should set an example and be cleanly shaven. A school will never get a bad reputation just because of a real bearded, long haired kids. They will get a bad reputation for inforcing illegal rules and forcing them to shave/clean themselve etc etc or be kicked out of school.

If you took this matter to the education minster they would say the same thing.

Meh school is a all boys school (piss off with the jokes alrdy , this has some relevance in the post) and we are also no allowed beards or... long hair! (there it is) If your hair is below your jaw line your told to get it cut, even though long hair seems to be the 'in thing' atm so quite a few have it.

I also had to shave my beard today going back lol.

I also like the idea of uniform, apart from the blazer. It means less having to find crap to wear each day (no im not poor and I have a fair amount of cloths but still) if it aint washed or such and such and imo can make a person look 'cool' (if worn the right way ofc).

Heh, I've been reading my school rules - specifically my sixth form contract (which I have actually yet to renew this year) and I quote,

Hair must be clean and of a natural colour, and no shorter than a number three hair cut.

This is all it says.... so if somehow I grow a beard to greater than a No.3 cut, I'm in the clear!

That's the logic our school has based the rule on though..... I think it's a pretty old rule......... my town was the scene of a massive BNP (or something) race riot in the 70s and I think it comes from then. No skinheads.

I'm not generalising that all people with short hair are chavs, or all people who wear baseball caps are, or even that Conch is a retard, but you have to admit that that's usually the case.

I did that Conchabar,

It my school rules said that "You could not bring in cigarettes or lighters/matches" but it never said anything about smoking in school.

They had to changed the school rules because of me and few hundred people.

Ive always wanted to take up the school rules with someone and demand they be changed! Coz of the stupid ones like no beards and no long hair or no really short hair, or no coloured hair, etc etc. I dont think it fairs to not let someone do as they please with their body, ofc you can keep in 'not allowed to commit suicide while on school grounds' and smoking, since it damages other peoples health

bloody hate that medium hair bit. got to it so many times but only managed to push through the pain of looking like a gimp a couple of times. Its easier to grow your hair long in school and even easier at Uni. harder once you get a job where you serve the public. Long hair scares old people.
