I still find the musical score from Platoon to be too haunting at the end of the film as Charlie Sheen is airlifted out.

(Barbers Adagio for strings?) where the helicopter curves around and you see the guy imerge from the trees......top scene.

Equilibrium - where Christian Bale's character hears music for the first time.

Twelve monkeys - *Spoiler* Where Cole is killed and the doctor realises that his dream was of him witnessing his own death.

Shawshank redemption - where Andy plays Mozart's sull'aria over the loudspeakers to the whole prison.

The bit in Saving Private Ryan when Hanks begins to cry, checks over his shoulder to make sure his squad isn't nearby, then hunkers down to continue crying.

Watch this bit and pretend that he's trying to stop laughing. This makes it the funniest cinematic moment.

Fraid mine is actually TV as well (soz) and even more strangely it is the poppy field appearing at the end of Blackadder goes Fourth.

Go figure.

This is the only scene ever which has actually moved me.

Yeah thats a bit of a choker. :(

How about Shawshank Redemption when the 2 friends meet up at the end, or about 1/2 way through the film where the old man who got released hangs himself. :(

At the end of Gladiator when Russel Crowe is dead and the lady-type person says:

"He was a soldier of Rome. Honour him."

...and then the dudes pick him up.

Makes me cry. :|

Gladiator full off classic scenes :)

No one mentioned matrix yet, so I will. Namely when neo and trinity get armed up with guns, before the enter the building. The camera whooses past and suddenly they're in a white room.

Oh and when adrain wakes up in Rocky 2, and tells rocky to WIN WIN!

They should have stuck with the original ending where Red gets on the bus to look for him (after he found the thing under the stone). Of course, hollywood execs wouldn't allow an inconclusive ending despite the fact that it would be symbolic of what the entire film is about, i.e. hope.

Amadeus.

Then suddenly - high above it - an oboe, a single note, hanging there unwavering, till a clarinet took over and sweetened it into a phrase of such delight! This was no composition by a performing monkey! This was a music I'd never heard. Filled with such longing, such unfulfillable longing, it had me trembling. It seemed to me that I was hearing a voice of God

Also love the bit where Salieri is helping Mozart finish the requiem.

Ooh, that's a cracking film. The part you quoted is superb as the audience hears what Salieri is thinking as he describes it... I love that film.

Funny enough I just ordered that on DVD!

other good film moments...

Jack Nicholson in 'As Good As It Gets'
"You make me want to be a better person".

Schindler's List
When Liam Neeson sees the little girl's red coat in a pile of bodies.

Amadeus is one of my favourate films, its just a pity it takes huges bites from the arse of truth and replaces them with peanut butter.

I thought the best moment in that film is where hes reading the music that Mozart's wife has brought him, and he drops the sheets on the floor. Very stirring. The funeral is excellent too.

Ok cos I've bought this new turntable, I've been looking around to expand my collection of vinyl. One artist I've been 'auditioning' (heh) is Charlie Haden, and he did a piece with another guy called Pat Metheny, and that piece was the theme music to Nuovo cinema Paradiso.

I can't beleive I forgot the mention this beautiful film, my cheek-wettingly upsetting moment is toward the end, where Toto is watching the special film that Alfredo had made for him. God, its about 4 years since I saw it, and I've only seen it the one time, but its making my eyes swell just thinking about it.

Have a listen to the track (Cinema Paradiso main theme), and just think about that scene, hopefully you'll know what I'm talking about.
