Well I just googled my own question and yes he was. He was a dodgy cheating German cunt going waaaaay back and a total wack-a-doodle-nut-job.

I remember when he used to run bots on the BarrysWorld Quake2 servers and then brag about it, it was one of the main reasons we had to write the anti-cheat software. I used to join servers he was on just to beat him despite his bot software. Even it was really really accurate he was still really really stupid. I guess nothing has changed since then

It seems slightly odd at times a lot of people suddenly revert back to geographical bounderies with regards to the legal aspects of the world wide web often when it suits a personal view/crusade. Personally whether you agree with the case or not to me this does seem more targetted and researched method compared to SOPA, in essence SOPA is like using a cluster bomb to dice a carrot and it seems to require little effort when it comes to actually using it.

I agree that this is exactly the wrong tack. Unless the site ignored complaints/requests about removing illegal content the focus should be on who is uploading the content not who hosts a tool designed for good use that some have turned otbad use. The tool should not be held accountable (back to the car thing again, or phone, or post, or anything else folks have used as valid comparison).

When do we get to cut the yank internet off from the rest of the world so they can have their own stupid rules without spoiling it for the rest of us? Is it time for Google to pull out like it did in China?

Am I the only one who thinks that a company making $175m off the back of other people's effort deserves everything it gets? If the ArsTech doc is true, they even paid their web designer $1m a year! SOPA/PIPA was fundamentally wrong in its approach, but that doesn't mean Megaupload or anyone else who makes money off content they don't pay for shouldn't be prosecuted.
