thick everyone is happy playing those maps and they sometimes end up being some good games

I don't particularly like Recal but I love Thin Ice - and I know many, many others do.

A restriction on choice is not the way to go IMHO.

noones claiming all the servers should be changed, im sure some servers can be left normal, BW have 4 normal CTF servers, there is room for variety in rotations.

The point with removing thin ice is not about weather "Mr.X" likes it or not.

Its that it clears the server of all the halfway decent players. when it comes on.

Its a bad analogy a more appropriate analogy would be one of a cafe.

You run a cafe, one hour you sell Cola "A" which everyone likes and popular, next hour you Sell Cola "B" which very few like, buisness drops dramatically.

With BWT2 there are about a dozen different "Flavours" but the regulars stay away away because they dont want to endure the "bad cola" only a few people like, or go elswhere to another "cafe" that has a much better menu.

but you see, now you're suggesting people don't like this map, there is infact alot of players that love this map.
But!! this is not what I wanted to say by submitting my first reply. I'm saying people have diffrent taste and like diffrent maps, and barrysworld public servers beeing just that, public, they should probably have atleast the original dynamix made maps.
it's not a question wheter the top clans like the rotation or not.

I've been on BW pubby servers many times and had people vote it in (not me starting the vote - I just go with the flow and avoid Quagmire).

Hardly an action that happens when the majority HATE a map eh?

I think what Thin Ice does is polarise opinions - people tend to either love it or hate it - but about equal amounts of both... most of the other maps you can be so-so about....

Dunno what server your on but ive NEVER seen thin ice put forward for a map change then proceed to actually be chosen.

One thing that id put money on is that EVERYTIME thin comes up, people initiate a vote and the majority vote yes, to change map. Unfortunately T2's shitty voting system means thatunless practically everyone is paying attention and votes, nothing happens.

And apart from say Katabatic there's nearly always a vote when the map changes.

If "every" time the vote came up and the majority voted yes for a change then it'd happen. A lot of people just don't vote for the change because they're happy with the map the way it is...

Point is, in T2 you very rarely get even 66% of the server VOTING. IMO they should change it so its like kick voting. I.E. takes the yes % as from the amount of people that actuallly bothered to vote.

I do miss the old Q2 system though were at the end of a round your given a choice of 3 maps and you vote in which map you want to play next.

Thing is, ive said it loads before, BW has room to have normal servers as well as servers with more exiting map rotation. At the moment of lookin at the top euro servers, BW is nowere to be. this is offpeak, so usually all hardcore gamers. BW is nowere to be seen on the list the top 3 being Yautja, for high player limit and 4 good maps, FRG server again good maps plus v nice custom maps by peachskin, as well as base maps altered to be more fun, and gamesurf kata only server for those who love kata.

IMO if there were more servers like Yautja, FRG and gamesurf kata. Then T2 would be more popular. i cant count the amount of times recently ive loaded up T2 and seen every single BW server running crappy maps (Thin ice and recal and other sloooow maps stay on server longer as they are rarely capped out).

Just reading an thinking about this while eating my dinner, And came up with this surgested solution.

At the momment we have cft 1 2 3 an 4 all running standard T2 maps, an we have ctf 5 an 6 VO an CTF 7 an 8 CM, what if you leave CTF 1 an 2 as is, change CTF 3 to run the up an coming league maps and change 4 into kata only,

I am sure bw servers would be top again an give everyone what they want, which is playable servers with maps they enjoy playing.

Maybe i wrong but bacon an saus on toast with brown sauce is nice /me returns to dinner.

The fact is there`s been a map cycle change request in since the start of November. The hold up is not people deciding maps, but someone at Barrysworld actually changing the servers.

Ok the changes requested by the liaison have been made.

They are:

CTF1+2: removed recalescence, thin ice & dust to dust

CTF3+4: remove recalescence, thin ice & dust to dust, replaced tombstone and quagmire with their follow ups, added insalubrius & muddy swamp

CTF5: Katabatic only

CTF6: no changes

CTF7+8: removed big rocks, fountains of paradise, ocean floor,
stormdash & warpigs and added the unknown map pack & deadly birds song

Unknown map pack and Deadly Birds Song now available from:
