Szape said:oh, you have seen lots of people running around yelling "ffs name legolas was taken so look at me now, i'm legoolas!" and stuff? sure, that could be annoying but i haven't seen it happening (and default setting is not to display player names which i like to use - feels more of roleplaying and stuff ;p).
that been said i've seen probably all the versions of "legolas" in all fantasy mmorpg's i've played so lotro brings nothing new there.

Monsterplay is when you take the roll of the badguys in pvp being uruk-hai etc think it was 4 classes or something, you can do this from lvl10 and up while normal pvp dont start until way later..Well, I am not a pvp fan anyway, I'd rather play with others than against others.
Is the pve then so bad? what's monster play?

I was a bit miffed this weekedn during the stresstest got home from work was just gonna hammer the login servers abit while watching the tv, but i got in first try and got to char screen in 1 min...
At this point I would say no - LotRO's PvE, however, is easily the best PvE ever and I enjoyed playing it solo more than I enjoyed Oblivion/Gothic and similar singleplayer gamesBut is the Pvp so good that u can go thru the painfully pve ?
I dont have much experience of grouping or PvPing but by judging from that little experience this game has more potential than any mmorpg I've ever played.I agree with Saggy,if solo pve is your thing then this is probably the best mmorpg out to date.
However if like me you enjoy group pve, pvp and group pvp then this game really isn't for you.
i tried lotro and it sucks very big time its just a bad copy of wow only one side for the rest does it looks the same quests are the same only the npc have lord of the ring names but for the rest it's the bigges crap i ever seen and that is sad because i really looked forward to it.
why ??? can't i have an opinion or is this not a free world if i feel for myself its crap like i think wow is crap its my opinion you don't need to call me braindeath for having an opinion. I think its very sad for myself because i thought lotro would be the coolest game to look forward to but i tried it and its not so i just give my opinion i thought thatqs what forums is all about. maybe you feel different and i hope you do the world not ready for 2 like me

International Game Access Info
On behalf of both Turbine and Codemasters Online Gaming, we wanted to answer some of the questions we’ve been seeing from the LOTRO community about Pre-orders and access to The Lord of the Rings Online game servers.
As you may know, the LOTRO Pre-order is now available in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. European customers in countries* served by Codemasters will be able to Pre-order LOTRO both in-store and online in the coming weeks. As the game begins to enter global distribution we wanted to take a moment to explain how the game is operated internationally.
For each region where the game is available, Turbine partners with a publisher who handles production and distribution of the packaged product as well as marketing support. In some regions we also partner with a service operator who will host and manage the service, including billing, customer service, and community.
In North America and Oceania, Turbine is the service operator. We work with two publishers to support our service – Midway in the US and Codemasters in Oceania. In Europe, Codemasters is both the publisher and the service operator.
What this means is that the version of the game you can play is determined by the service operator that supports your region. Since the service operators maintain completely separate billing, hosting, and support systems it is not possible to allow players to access both services – they’re just not compatible with each other.
There are a variety of differences between the EU and NA versions of the game and service. In order to provide the best possible experience to our EU players (including local language game content and customer service) both Codemasters and Turbine have implemented blocking rules to prevent players from activating keys from outside their home region. Specifically, players must register on the service for their region and only client software and keys purchased in that region will work. This applies to both Pre-order programs as well as the final retail game.
If you are a European player and purchase the game from a retailer based in North America you will not be able to activate your Product Key on the Turbine billing system. The reverse is also true: Copies of LOTRO intended for the European market cannot be registered with Codemasters from a country outside of the territories they serve.
Any questions about this policy should be directed to the customer support representatives for your region.
*Countries served by Codemasters include: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Turkey, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Andorra, Serbia & Montenegro, Israel, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Qaiwain, Ras al-Khaimah, and Fujairah) and South Africa
I didn't want to start a new thread, as there is already a thread about LOTRO. This announcement appeared last friday on the LOTRO forums. I was shocked by this and I still can't believe Turbine is really going to do this
What do you think about this?

Yeah, for the US betas and retails only US/canadian and australian residents could play iirc. When I registered I just punched in a fictional australian address with a valid zip code and payed with my own visa. Easy way to work around. Pretty sure international guilds will find a way...find a friend to activate your account and then play? wasnt there meant to be a similar thing for WoW? (and that worked wonders during the beta )

I find it pretty humiliatingIn order to ...bla-bla-bla... both Codemasters and Turbine have implemented blocking rules to prevent players from activating keys from outside their home region
As a matter of fact, many people, both in Europe and in America have made bad experience with Codemasters which results in "Codemasters? No, thanks!"
