I just hope it was justified and he wasn't some immigrant who was unable to speak english and got spooked when armed officers approached him.

...not that pumping five bullets into a suspect is something that can be easily justified, especially when he has been pinned down by several officers.

Hate to say this, but if it was some immigrant who cant speak the language then it is their own fault. Yes it is a harsh outlook at it but if they come to live in a country then they should speak the language.

This said i would feel sorry for them but the police took the action to secure the safety of many innocents. He was deemed a threat, he was told to stop and did not, it was made totally clear on all news broadcasts since yesterday that police were authorized to use deadly force, and when it comes to a bomb suspect they will. Apparently the police did shout out a warning, witnesses there said they saw what they thought was a "bomb belt" and as such the right action was taken.

Unlike some countries police, british are trained in the same way as special forces (most likely these were anti-terrorist police so it goes more so for these). The standard operating procedure is, and always will be, a head shot, more to the point it will be 3 shots between and just above the eyes as this is basically an insta kill spot. 5 shots heard make me think at least 2 officers shot at them. Another reason for not shooting at the body is you do not know what they got hidden and you could set it off, and incapacitating someone that is armed is not allowed. If they have a gun or bomb and it clear they are not disarming then they will be killed.

Explains a lot, I thought it had to be Special Forces, as I didn't know the police were trained that way.

I also feel they took the right action; he was acting suspiciously, refused to stop. Not nice, but there you go.

As for the comments about learning the language, I heartily agree. I also agree that English people living abroad should also learn the local language there.

If he had been a suicide bomber and blown himself up because the police took a chance then the public would not forgive the police.

The guy was tailed by special forces (not police) from a suspect address which I believe they raided later on in the day. They had clearly been watching or had known about this address and they didn't just spot some guy in the street and chase him. This guy was dodgy, acting dodgy and wearing clothing that could easily conceal explosives.

The special forces guys must have confronted or tried to confront him around the outside of the station and when he refused to comply they chased him. He ran into Stockwell tube station which when you are suspected to be involved in repeated bombing of the underground in London probably wasn't the best choice he ever made. As far as the special forces guys know he could well have just thought ok I am almost caught I will just run in and blow myself up as fast as possible to avoid being caught.

Whatever he did those guys would not have shot him without some seriously good reasons. If you don't comply with armed police you will eventually get shot. This guy was already dodgy as that was how he was found and followed. He then did not comply with special forces guys what do you expect to happen.

English speaking or not when a policeman or even a non policeman pokes a gun in your face you should know not to act like a maniac.

Anyone debating whether the shooting was justified.. it was.. you have to have faith and trust our law enforcement guys. I assure all of you the decisions leading up to the guy pulling the trigger were not taken lightly. I wouldn't worry about being mistaken as a suicide bomber and getting shot. Unless you act like a complete fucknut and effectively ask them to shoot you by stupid actions you have nothing to fear. You should be more scared of all the muggers around London than any member of the authorities armed or not.

The man shot yesterday was innocent, Police just announced it was a case of mistaken identity.

Completely big cockup then, but doubt anyone publicly will be held accountable given that it appears it wasn't a normal police armed unit that shot him and is SAS or some other special forces unit.
