I don't think the police want the inquiry to be pushed through while the story is still newsworthy.

They actually delayed passing this onto the Police Criminal investigations board until 3 days after the event which is really very strange - usually in all high profile police shootings they immediatly notify them.

I cant remember another case where they have delayed for so long and I think it actually breaks their own procedures for incidents involving armed police...

If that account is true there is no way that was normal police it has to be the anti terrorist unit SRR who work for MI5 and MI6.
The leak states that the officer firing was CO19...which is the posh name for SO19.

"Introduction to the Force Firearms Unit (SO19)

SO19 is the name given to the department, which provides firearms-related support to the rest of the Metropolitan Police Service. It consists of a small group of officers who are highly trained and motivated in dealing with most aspects of the criminal use of firearms. It exists so that the vast majority of policing activities throughout London can be conducted in the traditional manner by unarmed officers.

This is one department within the 'Specialist Operations' branch of New Scotland Yard, which is headed by an Assistant Commissioner. The Officer in command of SO19 is Chief Superintendent Paul Robinson."

Wonder if this Robinson guy will resign then as its ultimately his responsibility if they were following procedure.
