So I've got no tele in my bedroom and don't fancy buying one - aside from anything else there's no aerial socket in there. However, my desktop is about 2ft from my aerial socket in my living room and I have a little USB freeview receiver. I've been trying to find a way to get that signal to bounce over to my laptop so I can watch live TV over the wireless network but as of yet I can't find a way to do it.

I know you can use "media extenders" to watch live TV over the network, the X360 does this I believe but it appears a standard media center laptop doesn't work for this. So, anyone got any ideas?

TIA!

Slingbox. Stick it under your telly and you can watch live telly from any of your PCs. They're pretty cheap at the moment as well. Mine works great over a wireless-n.

First of all, don't think that you're going to get away without paying your licence fee. :)

Have you tried the streaming functions of VideoLAN client (VLC)?
VideoLAN - The cross-platform streaming solution

I'm already paying my license fee, dunno why you thought I was trying to avoid it. I'll have a look at VLC, ta.

Thing is, I don't really want to pay for any more equipment. I've got my desktop PC that can play freeview already and media center can stream TV to other devices, *except* other PC's it seems. I just want to find a way around that.

Do you have an active Sky subscription somewhere in the house? Can use the Sky player on the 360 then.

Holy Moses no, and I'm moderately offended at the question :). Besides, I need to get tele on my laptop in my bedroom, not TV on my x360 as my x360 outputs to my TV, which gets TV already :p.

Cheers Chet, I'll check those out.
