im d/l it atm. seems like a nice game. The only thing that troubles me is the MASS whine on the lineage boards. I wasnt here when daoc went beta, but during early retail things where pretty positivie on the daoc boards.

thats because its still free, 95% of the 15- year old kids will be gone when it goes pay-to-play... its the same with the ingame broad, when in daoc some newbie asks a question he usually gets a answer, here its like:

nic eskill system btw, nice gfx. the only bad part so far is (alas) the game play. Maybe the arrow keys are still bugged, but the click and run thing sux imho.

theres a pretty easy quest at level 10 called 'spirit of mirrors' which gives you a good weapon,
make sure you have ice bolt and windstrike at max (real partying as a healer wont really do you much good until 14)
ice bolt snares, many people dont realise this
weapon mastery affects spells
partying as a healer is very difficult until you gain access to battle heal at level 14 (you die easily to aggro)

I believe they are staggering the sending of keys so that they can optimize/stabilize the servers before bringing in more people. I dont think beta acceptance is over yet since there is still 3 weeks remaining before release.

2. Number of servers
Yes, it seems even 5 servers is not quite enough. Fear not, after the opening of Lionna and Erica on Saturday, next week we will be bringing up several more in rapid succession. While I do not have the exact schedule, I do have the proposed names of the next 3 servers:
Gustin, Devianne, and Hindemith.

Names are subject to change, and this is no indication there will only be 3 more servers, just that if there are 3 more servers, in all likelihood these will be the names of the possible 3 servers.

I have read that there are at least 45k accounts now.
5 servers are now all congested! and at 5k a server.

the click-and-run system rules, it prevents lamers and *****hits from abusing movement bugs

and the whine in this game is enormous, same for the lineage2 forums, but i really don't give a shit, we're just gonna kill the fucks xD

lineage has no community, that's what makes it good, noone has to be your friend, you can be everyone's enemy xD

this isn't a game for the average daoc player, the death penalties are damn high (you can lose items when you die) and the griefing is enormous, getting killed by a group when you ask to join them is part of it xD

on tallon zek, the race war server, it was so hardcore in the beginning. after you had killed a member of the enemy race you could loot one item from him and all his coin. pity they changed it so fast =/

in L2 it's somewhat different and at the same time familiar. if you kill a chaotic player (red player, pk'er and all that) chances are like 95% he'll drop something.

anyways, i'm all for harsh death penalties. adds alot of excitement to the game.

(and frustration/anger sometimes, but that's no biggie).

Until the 28th April L2 has more 'people/accounts' playing in the US than DAoC. Another server launched Friday increasing the maximum number of people still further. With more to come it seems.

It may change when people start paying from the 28th April but currently there are probably more people playing L2 in the US than there are DAoC.

In the same way that DAoC was good - in the long term - for EQ I think the success of a second PvP game (L2) will be good for DAoC. The number of US players have dropped, they may well drop some more if DAoC players trying L@ decide to stay with it and cancel DAoC. In the end though it could focus Mythic on their customers. They no longer have a unique selling point.
