I got a key today, just played alil. Im impressed by the absence of serious lag since there are hundreds of players in the newbie area where i was. Didnt like the lack of character customization tho (2 faces, 4 hairstyles and 3 or 4 haircolors). On the other hand the characters look very good and are animated very well. Spelleffects etc are also nice.
Really hope the number of l33tspeaking 13year olds lessen alot in the release version - i will *not* play it if the has the same playerbase i encountered now. Not sure i will play it anyway ofc, will try it some more in the days to come.

Just got up and running on lineage2 last night.. chose Kain as I heard that was the unofficial euro server (just in case I decide to buy when gold).
Even though it said net congested it let me on first try.. I then created a dark elf fighter (chick of course)
As I hadnt read harldly anything about the game took me a little time to adjust to the interface.. you mostly use the mouse to move around.. click on the ground and you run there sort of thing.. They have made it so you can use arrow keys to move but its unresponsive and an obvious after thought.
Got my first quest to kill some wolfys and bring back a few claws for the master. Went outside and holy sheet.. very impressed by the graphics. The running of my lass was pretty cool at first but now wish I could toggle a normal run instead of the 'Im gunna keeeellll you' run. Although as ppl have mentioned, she bends over a little and has a nice ass and rack!
(glad I chose a chick now)
Hmmm, I have no abilities yet so just arm my dagger/sword and start to hit on the little wolfys. Got lvl3 within 5 minutes. feels good.
Took my claws back to master and he gives me a map! Can now see the big world map and know where the other citys are etc. He sends me to the main dark elf city which is in a mountain and pretty cool. Now I bump into a zillion dark elf clones! Guess it was to be expected but the mobs near the main city are being swamped and was a tad annoying.
I reached lvl5 and can now goto my trainer to get some abilities!!! woohoo. Realised that on every kill I have been gaining Skill points.. these are used to buy abilities. My trainer shows me about 5 to choose from including a 'mortal blow' which when used from behind a mob can do some crazy dmg! I was told at lvl10 more abilites open up. Best thing about this system is you can train in all the abilities at some point if you wish.. cos you can simply keep killing mobs to get SPs and buy em up.
Ventured out a little more down the road to find some bigger mobs.. orc fighters and crazy shrooms etc.. pretty cool. Getting jelous of the other magic users unleashing nice spells whilst chanting away.. Things are starting to slow down on the lvling.. ended up at lvl8.. had about 8000adena (gold) and ppl were selling stuff for about 30k!
You can buy healing pots etc to speed downtime up but felt like it was gunna take me forever to lvl.. Ive read that this game is aimed at grping more and you get a bonus to exp for grping.. will have to try that next time.
Got kicked from the server a few times but could just log back on each time. No lag for me.. although Im in hong kong atm so a bit closer to Korea then you guys.
Wasnt impressed by the 'kids' on the !shout channel.. lots of 'shut it you retard!' comments etc. Didnt encounter any PKing at all.. but I think the risk of losing nice equipment will stop most ppl till they are harder.
I logged and decided to quickly create a human caster.. the newbie area was empty! So I was free to cast on little dog things (was loads of em) got to lvl5 in about 10 mins! lvling seemed a lot quicker with this guy.. almost 1 shotting these doggys.. just have to rest for magic points now and again.
Overall.. It felt quite good.. got used to moving with mouse etc... still a bit unsure about some things but I will learn I guess... Think I may have to buy the bow ability and start shooting things from range.. should be less downtime... Read about the higher lvl stuff like blood wars and castle sieges and riding dragons and was quite motivated about getting to that.
Anyway.. a nice distraction so far.

Btw. How come Lineage2 being a game made by asians for the asian market (mainly) has only north european looking avatars? As human fighter you get to chose either "blond" or "light blond" heheh... Strange.

And ofc in a game with silly pk rules, whats funnier to do then social engineering silly people in attacking one of your friends with a newbie-look and then beating the shit out of them
being a simple red pk is one thing, but being a clever pk that doesnt turn red is completely different...

The castle siege stuff looks really really nice, love the fact that you have to plan a castle raid in advance will probaly make some very interesting battles since most big guilds will want a castle and all the benifits it gives! dragon for the guild leader etc

The guildleader will really need that dragon, cuz if the guildleader dies you lose the war

also, guilds can have up to 40 members, so although fights can be very big you wont get stuff like 40 vs 120 people (they actually encourage equal fights in this game!)
sure you could bring more people, but you can only be at war with one clan at a time (and a war lasts until midnight or smt), being at war means you can kill the enemy guildmembers without suffering the PK penalties (turning red)
also not every 'noob' can start his own clan, well he can, but the initial member limit is 10, and you have to do some questing with your clan to level it up, as it gains more levels the max member size increases (up to 40) and your clan gets more 'abilities', like being able to auction houses, conquer castles etc...
you cant be at war until your clan is lvl3, so at least you wont get the "WTF PWND NOOB CLAN KEKEKE xDDD" semi-pro's like random emain savage/odins bd

Imo best way to DL the beta is to download the lin2.exe only.
When u run it it will start looking for missing files (that would be all files) and start downloading them. If u get tired of the DL ,or need to shut the comp off, just shut it down cuz it'll start from where u cancled last time.
iirc this was also faster DL compared to DLing the 1gb file back in Closed Beta.

im d/l it atm. seems like a nice game. The only thing that troubles me is the MASS whine on the lineage boards. I wasnt here when daoc went beta, but during early retail things where pretty positivie on the daoc boards.
