The real fun one is that there are something like 2000 DNS records you need to block at router level to stop this. PiHole solves this at a technical level but jesus christ it's terrible.

They're going to do more investigations into rival LG brands too, going to be interesting to see who else has scummy shit like this... my guess is literally every single smart TV does this.

LG coming out and saying "We don't do this" when there's literal proof they do is fun.

Change the way people think.

Tell them that any device they own which has any form of intelligence will be spying on them in a multitude of ways and sending that information off to be processed. The problem is that if they are not tech savvy, and to be honest sometimes that is not enough, they will not know how to block/deny this information from being sent out of their home or devices.

MicroSoft are going full LG

TLDR: Microsoft's new patent would allow them to install software on Windows that lets them listen in via your audio devices and scan whats on your screen and play targeted ads etc, it would also allow them to inject ads directly into video games and software... loading screen? here have a fucking ad you peasant

If ever there was a time to jump to Linux, I reckon it's about that time

If they started doing it I'd ditch my devices.

I'd swap to Linux, as he said in the video though even Linux would likely fall victim to it, just less than Windows. As for TV's etc, I'm just not buying LG anymore and depending what future investigations by them find, I may blacklist other brands too.

This is a legit option now in all honesty, the M$ nonsense is just ramping up, latest one is a family 365 is going from 6TB storage (1TB per family member) to 2TB shared across all and is being pushed as an "improvement"

I keep trying Linux on and off, its very quick/responsive, the only thing that puts me off it is having to jump through hoops to get some games running... most work fine but others you need to configure various things.

Anything Steam based now shouldn't have those hoops. I honestly find the desktop experience to be the difficult part, it's just not up to par.

I don't mind it, its not so bad once you get used to it. I had mine setup so it was pretty much just a carbon copy of Windows... only Linux. I was using Mint, though, I hear Bazite (spelling?) is the "Best" for Linux gaming as its customized purely for gaming out of the box.

Most Steam games work BUT some games that use anti-cheat do not, the reason being developers have it disabled on their end for Linux (Rust being a prime example, you can play Rust but you cannot join official servers because Easy Anti-Cheat doesn't work on Rust specifically, EAC works on Elden Ring fine for Linux, just not Rust, I've asked the Rust devs numerous times why they don't have it enabled for Linux they just give the usual generic shite)

Yeah the Anti Cheat stuff is BS. Fortnite is coming to Linux now so hopefully that will blow right through EAC refusenik Devs in future
