All of the flaming on this thread could have been avoided if the TFC players didn't whinge, moan and bitch about getting killed by snipers that were put in the game for a reason.

At the end of the day, if there's a specific class you don't want on a server, get you're own server and sort it out... don't moan and carry on about classes on public servers just because you don't like 'em...

Most, if not all of the posts from non TFCers have demonstrated a lack of understanding of the debate. The objections of the experienced TFC players is that the sniper 99.9% of the time is not contributing to the game. Therefore I get annoyed most by snipers on my OWN TEAM. So its nothing to do with them shooting me and making me their bitch or whatever you want to call it. If a sniper is on my team we are effectively 1 man down. It is frustrating and annoying. Getting shot by one on the other team is a secondary annoyance for me.

There is no equivalent situation in counterstrike because the objectives of the game are different, but if I was to fabricate an example it would be something like this:
Imagine there are 3-4 people on your team who dont even move when the round starts, they are just chatting in the console. The people who are playing get caned by the 8 man opposition. You feel like saying "Go to irc if you guys want to chat, were trying to have a serious game in here."

So I dont think its out of order or moany or bitchy for some of the experienced TFC players to say heres a good idea - lets have a server where there are no snipers allowed, If they want to snipe they can use any other server in the world, but we would like a place where we can play a serious game.

So please, if you dont play TFC dont mistake our objections for sour grapes at being sniped. Barrys have "elite" servers with snipers limited to 1 per team and it really does help for creating a better game. Personally, I'm happy with this but I dont blame people for wanting something more.

If that was the approach taken it most certainly wouldn't be thought of as out of order, that's the way to do it... however, the guys on this thread have mainly ranted and raved about how great they are, how shitty everyone else is, and about how they hate getting sniped by newbies... Personally i think the servers with a limit of one sniper is a good idea, but i don't think they should ban snipers altogether just to please one or two people who don't like 'em...

I think you might be misrepresenting the trend of the thread. Theres been many posts from TFCers that I can see who have said nothing like that at all and made sensible points. That is the vast majority of posts.

well if snipers r restricted why not other classeS? they help just as much. if there is a good sniper who is defending a base in ctf for example, and the opposition cant win, why the hell not. by the same argument, you should ban crap soldier players who only run round shooting people. its just a fucking class, its the peopel that play the guy thats the problem.

Crap soldiers running around shooting people arent really a big problem. Theres nothing you can do about bad players anyway. If I want a game where there is guaranteed no crap soldiers I will go and join a passworded clan server. Servers where there are 4 snipers on your team are a common problem, and you can do something about it quite easily (sniper limits) and the problem goes away. The facts speak for themselves. After the sniper limits, the standard of game on the elite servers was generally of a higher quality. People who want to snipe for a bit of fun can use the other servers and nearly everyone is happy.

I certainly know that I wouldn't want to be told what weapons I could and couldn't use just because some people don't like it. Ending up with two llamas as snipers and that the limit wouldn't really please me.

Better limited at 2 than then have 3 snipers (including you) doing very little for the team. If you want to play sniper you can on any of the other servers. So noone is telling you you cant do anything. If you dont like the rules of the server then move to one you do like (barrys have both). Its just the same for me, if I dont like being on a team with 4 snipers I leave.

I'm not, read what I've said. I've said I'm perfectly happy with the way things are. What I'm not happy with is people who dont even play TFC saying that it would be a bad idea if there were limits like you have done. So I'm putting them straight.

And also I've not anywhere rated myself highly, I'm just an experienced member of the TFC community - hardly self inflated of me to say that. You do your credibility no good by calling me names, especially when the point I was making was that better limited to 2 than potentially be 3 or even 8 "llama snipers" as you call them.
