Lamers on Elite server

Stu, why not join one of the servers with no sniper limit, and watch as you get 3 or more per side, and the whole point of the game goes out the window.
Oh yes, great fun for the few who are trying to play properly.

Once you've actually experienced what we are talking about, maybe you can comment properly.

I've just thought of a crap analogy, remember in junior school when you first played football as a class, how everyone ran after the ball. Well over time the teacher would give each person a role, defence, attack, etc. And if people stuck to those roles you'd get a much more enjoyable game. All that the class limits on the servers do, is try and persuade people into playing proper parts in the team, instead of deathmatching.

Just appears to me that ... [A&I] are moany, lame cunts with no skills in both TFC or social interaction.

Anyway, I think I'll dig out TFC and go play as lame as possible on the 'elite' servers.

You're also all forgetting that once upon a time you were all newbies / lamers, and the best way to get better at a game is to play against people that are better than you, and actually learn something... So, as rediculous as it may sound, why don't you try helping the so-called lamers by giving them advice (not shouting orders at them) and see what happens ??

Also, something else to remember is : It's a game !!!! Not real life... you don't die really, so why get so pissed off with the lamers / newbies ??

Chill out people, if you think you're that good that you deserve you're own server from BW, email 'em and ask... or cough up the £50 a month for your own server, then you can choose who plays on it and who doesn't...

Stu, your entire contribution to this thread has been meaningless. You have not argued a single point constructively. You have not come up with better suggestions for improving teamplay, which I'm sure with your years of gaming experience you must be able to do.

So maybe for your next post, instead of 2 sentence criticisms you could say how you'd arrange the TFC servers to give both new and experienced players a chance at good games.

The whole point is, regardless of what YOU think is enjoyable, who YOU like playing against, what YOU think the server limits should be etc... last time I checked, it was a public server. Hence, anyone on there has as much right to play as you do. And in whatever manner/style that they choose. As long as they're not doing something to openly abuse the game (ie use cheats of whatever variety), who are you to dictate how someone should play or shouldn't play? If someone wants to camp all day in a corner, that's entirely their prerogative. After all, they've paid for their computer, their dialup etc just like you have.

The overwhelming feeling I get from this thread is that you so called "Elite" players are pissed off with snipers. And it's because they kill you. So you dress it up with all this rubbish like "they're not helping the team", "good clans don't use snipers", etc. You don't like the fact that even a newbie can come on as a sniper and make you their bitch.

Live with it. That's how the game is. It annoys most people when someone sits with an AWM in a corner and picks people off for 10 rounds in a row. But you know what happens on a CS server? The inexperienced players whine, the experienced ones figure out a way to avoid/neutralise the sniper. What doesn't happen, is that we don't post to these messageboard whinging like schoolgirls going "boo hoo I keep getting killed by the AWM remove it from the game I really don't like it I'm too l33t to die by a sniper bullet".

Ironic that this thread is titled "Lamers on Elite server", isn't it.

So I agree with you Stu that just eliminating snipers because some people get annoyed by them is wrong.

What I don't agree with is that setting limits on each class won't give better games.

Better in this case meaning, played with the objectives of the game in mind.

Hi lilly, i kind of agree with you on this one, i too get annoyed with snipers camping out and killing you the moment you step out of the base, so i either join em and beat there asses so they get pissed off, or go as a pyro and burn there asses so they cant see I do agree also that a sniper in rock2 yard is a very effective defence and really should not be frowned at. Its 2fort which is annoying when theres a balcony full of snipers

I was not going to get involved in this thread, after all i play CS and not TFC. However after reading (all 3 pages of comments) several things are apparent:

1)Stu, why get involved in a TFc argument wiht no real suggestions to improve the thread you just seem to be attacking clan A&I, and stirring the pot.

2)I dont claim to understand TFC to well, but from ecperience with other games I do know that on a public server you can never plz everyone. If you really want to improve your game in an environment similar to clan wars then hire or rent a server. Public servvers will always be full of peeps just wanting fun, they have a right to this so dont moan about public servers there is no point.

I would like to ask you when Stu ever said he ran round with an awm? He said that in CS we try to overcome snipers and campers, they are just a part of the game to be accepted. Yes during a game of CS I will moan about awm users but that is just part of the FUN (remeber its a game) of CS. I use the awm myself, and i dont think i make people wet their pants, it is as hard to snipe as use a normal gun in CS. Sydeeral dont comment on things without checking the facts and dont make things up.

Firstly, I never said I used the sniper rifle in CS. I actually commented on how to deal with snipers. I rarely use it because I get bored sitting around doing nothing.

Secondly, considering it is VERY obvious that the brunt of your own clanmates argument against snipers is that they cut him to pieces all the time, I don't think anyone is impressed with your pathetic blustering. For some reason I don't believe that you'd give me a million pounds if I won a sniper vs crowbar fight, I wonder why that is... oh, its because you convey yourself with the attitude and maturity of a 3 year old.

It's amusing, Andy generally did quite well to argue the point of the "eleet" players, and then along comes a post like this to prove our point.

This thread is rapidly turning into a pissy little rant by those who don't understand or care about the sentiments raised in the original post. Mind you, given the people I meet playing on-line this is hardly surprising. Two words: Grow up.

I for one don't think snipers should be banned even though being shot as soon as I leave my base can be really annoying. Not simply because the other guy chose a class I don't like but because I didn't think he'd be there or underestimated his aim i.e. I died because I fucked up. I've been playing this game for years and there isn't a class I've come across that can't be beaten with a bit of ingenuity. The netcode patch did make things a little strange for a while and the point about new players and their passion for an high individual score is usually valid but neither of these should really point towards a ban.

The limit as it currently stands prevents a complete degradation of team play whilst at the same time allowing people, of any ability, to be a sniper because they enjoy it. If they don't want to practice as a team then why should they have to? The team can simply work around them.

I must admit that I think that the way things are at the moment are ok. Theres presently a limit of 1 sniper on the elite servers and its job is done. I was playing on the demon servers today and there was my team losing badly with 4 snipers on it. I went back to the barrys servers and had a much better game - with equally as inexperienced players but the difference being that if they cant play deathmatch nohelp sniper they generally do something constructive to help the team.

Snipers are part of the game if u ban them its changing the original design concept, it wouldn't be proper TFC(TF1.5 what ever) nemore, I'm not saying this is a bad thing or a good thing. Maybe these comments sould be aimed at Valve for the next update...

Saying all this I'm not realy bothered one way or the other.
The current settings are fine, not enough snipers to be over the top and if I want to I can snipe my self. If theres a sniper thats just sooo good I make sure I give them a good kicking when I do get accross or ask them to change class cus their bugging me (if they won't then call an admin).

But on a public server with a map rotation it may be a bit unfair to set a zero limit, despite the fact that there are plenty of servers even at barrys for people to snipe on.
