To be fair, they were being taxed and not given a vote. Seems a pretty good reason to rebel to me.

Why on earth do people have such a hard on for Palin?
She was grossly misrepresented in the media and somehow everyone has swallowed that misrepresentation wholly.
I guess when you desperately want to believe everything you're shown in the media then you get what you deserve, and in this case the Americans got Barack Obama. A puppet if ever there was one.

She can also see Russia from her house in Alaska.

Find me just one reference to where she said that.
I can guarantee you won't.
That's something Tina Fey said during an election skit on Saturday Night Live that's been taken by every left wing organisation as being direct from Sarah Palin's lips.

Sure, why not?

She used the phrases "next door neighbors" and "you can see Russia from here" (like what? One of the western-most, god forsaken Aleutian islands???) but come on, give me a break... it's essentially "I CAN SEE RUSSIA FROM HERE".

Considering she used that whole border to Canada/I can see fucking Russian bears dancing from my porch statement in order to prove that she has experience in foreign affairs. That dumb bitch.

Show me one prominent Tea Party member that makes a) sense b) is not a denim Taliban.

Thank you.

I live here. The way the Tea Party has taken over the Republicans reminds me way too much of the methods the Nazis used to infiltrate and in the end absorb/assimilate
conservative parties in Germany in the late 20ies/early 30ies.

Under certain conditions you can indeed see the easternmost Russian territories from the westernmost point of Alaska. Russia and Alaska are as close to next door neighbors as England and Ireland are.
She never tried to use it seriously to back up her foreign affairs experience.
It's yet another example of how she was misrepresented in the media.
The Tea Party hasn't taken over the Republicans, the Republicans aren't the conservatives they once were. The idea of cutting the size of the Government is abhorrent to them. They thrive on the welfare vote as much as the Democrats and they are every bit as guilty of driving uup the foreign debt as the Democrats. Republicans, they're just Democrats lite.
It was only a matter of time before somebody played Godwins' Law. I'm not sure if you've realised it yet, despite the Hitler loving slobberings of the skinheads and other right wing extremist groups, the Nazi Party was a socialist, authoritarian (in the extreme) right wing party.

And despite that alot (like a few million, give or take) of Jews and other undesirables left Auschwitz through the chimneys... what are you trying to say with your last statement? Despite the Hitler loving slobberings they were just an extreme flavor right wing party?

Edit: Oh, and I can see North-fucking-Korea from the moon. What's your point? Does that get me a gold star in foreign affairs???

You need to get your head straight.

I reckon you watched Nailin'Palin one too many times and developed a thing for her. I don't mind her as a person. I could give two fucks to be honest... She's just another uneducated, shallow American 'Hockey Mom'. I simply don't want her to run and ruin the country I happen to live in. Thank you.

Edit: Oh, I can see North-Fucking-Korea from the Moon. Do I get a gold star for excellence in foreign affairs now???

I haven't watched Nailin' Pailin, though I did D/L it. I just haven't gotten around to it yet, the Mrs and I have a shitload of porn to go through before we get to that one.
Palin was up front about her lack of foreign affairs experience. She never once tried to use that statement as a means to legitimise that fact.
In fact Palin had more political experience than Obama yet he managed to get the top job? A community organiser with a history of voting "present" only with no experience running a business Vs an accomplished Governor with a history of putting the needs of her state ahead of her personal desires, standing up for local businesses over multi national interests, a fervent supporter of General Aviation and a gun rights supporter all wrapped up in an att4ractive package.
No wonder she scares the shit out of the Lefties.

While I agree she wouldn't be an ideal pick for the top job, she would have made an excellent VP

Do you really think McCain would have done a worse job than the puppet you have at the helm now?
Edit: for the record, I've got no dog in this fight apart from what happens to the USA affects the rest of us too, I'm just against people blindly swallowing the bullshit spewed forth by the media with regards to this sort of thing.
People should have to prove they're capable of independent thought and research before they are allowed to vote.

"But obviously, we've got to stand with our North Korean allies."

Ok i'll admit, it might be easy to confuse north and south korea, if you are 12 years old.

But sure as hell not if you are trying to build a reputation in foreign policy...

If you want to go gaffe for gaffe Obama far outstrips Palin, he even surpasses Dubya's two terms for stepping on his cock speaking avante garde.
While Palin can deliver a full 30 minute address armed with nothing but a few salient points jotted on the palm of her hand (something she was lambasted for in the press) Obama cannot even speak for 5 minutes without a teleprompter without stumbling.
Let's just face it, it's no longer about capability any more, the race for the President of the (currently) most powerful country in the world has become a frigging popularity contest.

I'd change "become" to "is and "most powerful" to "any" ;)

I'm not defending the people so much as defending accuracy and encouraging others to actually research what's being reported before making important decisions based on what's on the frigging television.
Surely it's painfully obvious that the media in general is leaning so far to the right they're horizontal and digging a hole. Why anybody takes anything they have to report about your political representatives is beyond me.

<arbitrary statements>

Comparing Palin and Obama tit for tat is not in any way constructive. Or citing/claiming rabid left winger propaganda to justify your need to set things straight. The only person who keeps bringing either up is you pretty much.

I care for Obama about as much as I care for Palin. He's all talk and very little walk. That wasn't even the original topic of discussion.

The problem is, that you try and make it look like Palin and her camarilla are merely misquoted/misunderstood, have their hearts in the right places and their minds on the right issues. To actually come here and claim that she'd have made an excellent VP just proves your ignorance of what I'd like to call reality.

Tea Party controlled states want prayer meetings on Sundays, Tea Party states have turned abortion laws into a farce -for example-

I just recently read about a couple that wanted a late term abortion because their baby would have been a plant that would never turn into a healthy child - the mother was forced to actually carry the child for another 3-4 months. The child was born dead. Because late term abortion is now illegal in this state.

Now, if you want me to, I can do more research and find the specific articles and you can ignore it just like the two links you were so sure I couldn't find on Palin being able to see Russia from her house/Alaska.

Instead you will probably find another lame ass England/Ireland analogy.

I'm not trying to change your outlook on these matters since it's pretty clear where you can be found on the political spectrum. We're all entitled to our opinion. Yours makes my skin crawl, though.

Pretending that you simply want a fair and balanced view on the Tea Party is a joke, considering you also tried to shed a positive light on the Nazis. They weren't all that bad after all. Just a tad extreme on their values.
I can scroll up and quote. Any way I look at it, that statement was dodgy.

FWIW it's not just Palin who gets misrepresented, She was just the one who was originally mentioned.
Personally, as a V.P. I think she would have done a fine job, but she was always the weakest link in that chain, that's why the Democrats went after her directly and not McCain. That's just my opinion from what I've read about what she's already done. I'm not sure if she had the right stuff for the top job though, if McCain had kicked the bucket during his term had he become elected she'd have managed as a caretaker without screwing things up too much but then that's just my Opinion. YMMV. I can guarantee you will not find anywhere where Sarah Palin says she can "see Russia from her house" Here's what she actually said.
"They're our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska":
I have no love for the acts of the Nazi Party. I merely commented on their political leanings, I wasn't the one who played Godwin. The fact that the Nazis under Hitler exterminated half of Europe doesn't make him any less of an authoritarian left wing nutjob, it does make him a mass murdering authoritarian left wing nutjob.
As distasteful as I find the practice, I'm pro choice with regrd to Abortion. I would put a rider of first trimester for elective termination. A situation as you describe I'd have no hesitation agreeing with the procedure.
I don't support the Tea Party, I just don't misinterpret their politics and yes, as an agnostic they are a bit too religious for my tastes too.

After 8 years of Bush and Cheney, the Republicans could have put God Almighty on the ticket and they would have still lost the election. How those two haven't been strung up a lamppost and set on fire I have no idea; history will point to their tenure as the point where the "American Century" ended, and America's terminal decline began.
