Same old idiots on the road today, all the stereotypical bad snow drivers on a Sunday. On a Sunday FFS, I just needed to go to work and back. Gah.

Oh yes, +1 to that, Chet. Plenty of idiots out today. Can you imagine what tomorrow's going to be like with most of that snow turning to ice overnight?

To be fair, I've just been out tonight, a lot of side roads where there are clear stretches and the main roads should be gritted again tonight, I think we will be okay as we won't be down to the minus temps until Tuesday now.

However, I am leaving for work with a good 2 hours to spare (will be leaving my house at 6) to avoid all the idiots, and with that in mind... bed time!

No snow in Paris. A slight sprinkle yesterday morning.
We've had about 6 inches daan saaf. That awesome powdery snow, and a sharp frost this morning put a nice crisp shell on top. It's not going anywhere for a few days I don't think, it's supposed to be -12c tomorrow night. :(

I got up early this morning & made a 4 foot snowball (1.21m to you metric mincers). Should take at least a week to melt.

Oddly snow fell, settled, and still the trains are running and on time. This is a big shock.

To be fair, London on the whole has been well managed from a transport point of view this year. They've paid attention to the weather reports and the grit has been out in the right places, trains and buses info has been a lot better than last year too.

That can only be said by someone who didn't have to travel on the train in the 3 weeks work after the Xmas break :)

I did 3 times actually, once per week. I didn't have problems. There was a signal failure and two other incidents, one was a fire I believe. They did not affect me though, and they weren't a result of the weather or poor planning.

Compare it to the last two years, it's much better.

3 times :D Try 10 times a week.

For two weeks not ONE of my journeys was on time. Every single one was late or cancelled.

tbh le NL was shit in our recent winter splash: trains were completely fucked and switched to a "alternate winter schedule" straight away, meaning fewer trains, packed with grumpy people and NO GUARANTEE to get to your destination of any kind.

tbh I have no idea why this is. the NL has been having the same weather for yonks and the train and rail operators grasp simply any excuse to cover the fact that they suck: water on the rails, frozen points, leaves on the rails or -in summer- rails being too hot or some other nonsense.

Roads were fantastic though imo: all major motorways cleared and gritted right away. top marks! I don't even have the scam that is winter tyres and I had no issues at all :)

No snow in Dublin at all; which after last year's total chaos, is a good thing. Miserable fog this morning though.
