Hello all out there. hope you read this.
[IS] have been a tribe since tribes was first released. some of you may know us. it would seem that an ex-member, Dodgy aka DodgyBloke has taken it upon himself to register HIS own name against our team name and also taken our tag for his own use for Tribes 2,which means we now cant take our team name forward using our existing name
Why? youll have to ask him but we wont let him or this lame behaviour get in the way of our fun. so [IS]/Insomniacs will now be known as Tribe Insomniacs and our new tag of ($) and YES we are recruiting for Tribes 2. our irc room on quakenet is either #uktl_is or #Insomniacs. Happy cappin and lets get it on!

First let me say that i don't agree with what Dodgy did with your clan tag , no matter what reason he felt there was a clan is about more than one person and by doing this he has affected more than the person/persons he has a problem with. I don't intend to get into a big debate on this but there is more to the story of the Cd's than sinjin is saying. sorry Sinjin you know the full story and have ommitted to mention it when giving your answer. Dodgy has connection probs at the moment and it it will be for him to give an answer about the CD's or not. sorry about your <tag>

thx for all your support. as for the cd's i am under the impression from other IS members that he has got the cd's or did have. as most of the IS crew lived within 20 mins of each other it was mentioned by more than one member at the time. ask JP or Hawk. i really dont know about the cd's as i wasnt at the first I series lan in leeds. all stamper asked was did he have them. i havnt seen them so i cant comment. the original thread wasnt about the cds so nuff said. sorry stamper i think it important to discuss the name Insomniacs and IS tag for tribes2 tho as this is not acceptable. as shinara said it has affected more than one person and this is wrong. this is all i have to say about the matter.

I can confirm dodgy is a thief

yes dodgy took my cds, it was way back at i3, March 2000

persistant attempts to get them back (even sending him stamps when he said he had no money) have failed

these cds were mostly originals, some backups.. included were a double audio cd from my local library, UT, homeworld (borrowed ones).. the rest I can't remember.. there were about 6-7 in total.. so in total worth £60+

i confronted dodgy at i7, where he claimed he had no money and of course, did not have any of my cds with him (I assume they have been lost / sold / given away) he assured me that when he got the money / cds he would give them to me asap.. but I have been hearing this for over one year.

he claimed he took them from my desk area at i3 after I had left, but I remember him leaving before me

I have not posted about this before, but it has gone on too long, if he will not compensate me.. then everyone must know

Unfortunate but true

I'm not going to go into every action and episode that Dodgy has done or been involved in, suffice to say I have known him for quite some time, and I have seen enough to not be surprised by either of the revelations in this thread.

To borrow someones CDs and then not return them is actually theft - and dougle mate, I would really recommend you persue this further, if for no other reason than to give Dodgy the incentive he needs to perhaps realise what is involved (and the social contract you are party to) when borrowing something from someone.
It seems blatantly clear that Dodgy has a disregard for others peoples property, and is not reliable.
It should be noted here that he stole a large inflatable banana from [BR] at i7, something which might have been funny was it returned after a night missing, but the fact is it has been taken from the event and not returned.

If you take something that belongs to someone else, you should be prepared to return it, or pay them for it. By turning up at i7, Gareth (Dodgy) clearly showed that he has no intention of honouring his debt to Dougle (the money spent on getting there would have paid the debt). Incidentally, Dougle, you might be interested to know that I heard Gareth recently got a new car - I believe it was brand new?

Similarly, stealing a clans' tag in a game is childish and immature, but not in the same league as theft of property. I will say however that I am aware of events that have happened offline and have nothing to do with Tribes or the online world, and it would appear that Gareths motivation for doing this is down to petty grievances regarding other issues.

Unfortunately, Gareths conduct and ability to socially interract in a manner which is beneficial to those around him have been going downhill ever since I met him (at which point he seemed quite sound, and enjoyable to socialise with). I don't know what his problem is, but I think it's an shame if someone can go through life with such a lack of respect for others (and I suspect, oneself) and not learn from each mistake.

I post here only what I know from experience, any other information is clearly marked as hearsay or conjecture, merely so that others can have some truthful information before they enter into any kind of dealings with Gareth.

His online nickname is far more apt than most people are aware.

Tales of Clans, of CD's, of bananas and of woe

If someone was to ask me a fortnight ago if I considered dodgy a mate, I would have almost certainly said "Spose". His past misdemanours, nay, outright lies, deciet, bullshit, thievery, breach of confidence and twofaced-ness I was prepared to waive. I have known him a long time and as Afty has pointed out, this behaviour is to be expected. HOWEVER, upon reading certain e-mail messages, relating to certain ex-[IS] members i.e DODGYBLOKE and the blatent thievery of our clan name and tags I was appauled and disgusted. The man, no boy, had been to see me less than a week prior to this outrage to flash his "new" car at me, at which time I am sure he knew and/or was planning this low-life tactic.

It enrages me to think that he was sitting there in his shiny new car, laughing his tits off at me and the rest of the IS lads at pulling such a "clever" move over on us. It's all a big, steaming pile of poo. People like him ruin the whole gaming experience for others. He is "Mr.Teamkill so I can cap the flag and get the extra points" in a league match (it is demo'd), he is also "Mr.Dropme from the team and I will sulk and not talk to you all for weeks even though everyone else has to miss a match". What more could we want or expect from this person.

As I said at the start of this post, Gareth (Dodgy) used to be a mate... it saddens me to see what depths he has sunk to

Well - I can't say I know Dodgy in person. I can only say what I know.

From the minute Dodgy joined KoN until the minute he left he was reliable, good-humoured, honest and a great team player.

I understand he's been having troubles recently (which aren't for discussion here) and I can't speak for other people's experiences with him. But I'd feel bad if I sat down and never said anything in his defence (as he seems clearly unaware of this post).

On the other hand I could never condone such actions as have been mentioned above.

Give him the chance to answer them (not saying you're not - this is a public forum!).

Just thought I'd say my £0.02.

subsy: if you actually paid attention this was originally an announcement to let ppl know that IS will go into tribes 2 as Tribe Insomniacs. i cannot help what ppl write or feel about dodgy. as jp said he was a m8 in real life and we know each other well. i did say in my last post that i had no further comment to make. now if ppl like you wanna make a meal outa this then by all means go ahead. and no i aint spoken to him a) coz he aint been about and b) i know what he is like and he'll come out with some bullshit story about how he founded IS when actually it was JP. so untill you have or know the full facts i suggest you keep your comments to yourself. also as this is a PUBLIC FORUM this is our way of letting the community know what our new name will be for tribes 2. nuff said.

Yes Sinjin why didnt u speak to me about it, it was all done in a joke for what JP did to me at I7 and I will disban the name Insomniacs. I will be posting a big reply to try and explain my side of the story tomorow. tbh with u a lot of personal things happened between JP, Sinjin and some others and they pic up any opertunity to pu me down. This is spoiling any kind of gameing enjoyment that I try to get out of Tribes and other games.

PS as for my car beeing brand new, I dont think so and JP did u or did u not come over to my house to show off when u got your new car even though u hadnt spoke to me or Danny in months, Oh yes and it was his birthday but u only stayed for 5 secs, some m8 u are.

Helllllllllo, I actually know it was me and trampy that formed and invented the Insomniacs and if JP wants to deniy that then hes worse than i thought, JP actually thought it was a bad idea when me and Danny first desided to do it.

And Sinjin u cant go beeing political or accuse me off anything, U have twice been proved cheating in leuge games.

1st time was when u stole KoN's tactics and then denied it to me because u havent got the guts to speak to me like this to my face. (please say that u have so that we can sort this out)

2nd time was useing the GL cheats to make your skill seam a little bit more than newbish.

Talking about theft, Japester, I brought the Beershake into this world

It was when I was drunk, and tried to chat up someone on IRC, very badly
I couldn't type for fuck and I was making no sense...but she sent me some photo's anyway

Anyway, her BIG brother called meh Beershake, and it's my second nick in IRC (Fuckin BT)

So, I was the one that brought everyone the delights of Beershakes (Milk + Guiness) and Spud Ice (Smirnoff Ice and BudWeiser) and other mixtures of leftovers from parties

first of i want to say i havnt accused you of anything but registering your name to our tag and name for tribes 2. what you do is upto you. i made this announcement so that ppl knew that IS/Insomniacs's name had changed for T2. secondly if KoN had kept their egroups upto date then we would of never got hold of your tactics, i hasten to add we lost that particular game. more fool us. as for the glide cheat. i got this at i7 and put it in to see what it looked like, went outside for a smoke, came in and got accused of cheating. strange how ppl helped themselves to MY pc, another blatant disregard for other ppls property. if you cant see this for what this post was, an announcement about our name, and i cant be held responsible for all the ppl you have fucked over in the past and how they feel about you then perhaps you are right that its best that you are out of the community. i am sorry that you have taken this the wrong way but to be honest i really couldnt give a shit just the way you felt when you registered your name, at the earliest opportunity, against our tag and name for tribes2. maybe time away will help you realise the gravity of your actions and hopefully you will grow up and become a better person from it like the "dodgy we used to know" level headed and fun to be around. good luck in what ever you decide.

Just want to say one thing before i go home ( as im using a m8s pc at the moment due to the fact i have no internet access ) Sinjin if u remember corectly I came over to u and asked what all them wired lines where on your pc at which point u replied ( u aint seen nothing yet, look at what this does) and showed me to the full exstent what the cheet does.

At the end of the day im not going to comment anymore on this matter unless ppl email me and actually bother to ask me for my side of the story ( I may take a while to reply as I cant aford my net connection atm ) the car is my business and i dont want to tell all the world how my car is funded.

I DIDNT STEAL the bannana at I7 Afty as most of BR know, it was JP and Hawk (they even bragged to Trampsta about it) they then tied it to my car (which i didnt think to funny) especially when i remember JP nearly starting a fight with me cause i thouched his car airial. I will be about with my Clan in the future but as for Multiplayer Events and the tribes comunity i think its best to allow Sinjin,Jp and whoever feels liek it to Scorch my name and leave me in peace.

Second, Yes Dodgy, you are half right, I did come to your house with my new car, but not for a bit of one-upmanship as you try to make out... it was for the following reasons:

1: You begged me to come, even though I had prior arrangements which is why i didn't stay for long,

2: Hawk had asked me to pick up Dougles CD's which Dodgy said he had, but were not forthcoming when I got there (He said he had lost them)!!!

3: I also went to retrieve Sinjin's modem which was lent to Dodgy, but it appeared that he had given it to his mum. He assured me it was going to be replaced, but wasn't.

I am sitting here now with baited breath waiting for your reply.... unless of course you want to get Mummy to do it for you again (and don't make me have to explain that comment Gaz as I would like to spare that issue from this forum, it is a Tribes forum after all, and not a slagging match).

I would also like to ask what I did to Gaz at i7, as we appeared to get on just fine, so I am a little flummoxed about that comment.

Yes Gaz, you are HALF right again, Trampy formed the Insomniacs, you and I were there from the start, but you kept sulking every time you were put on the subs bench, so you left or were asked to leave. That left myself and Trampy running the team, and Trampy left due to personal issues, leaving myself. Yes it was Trampys name, however it cannot be denied that I put a lot of hard work into getting the team up and running, as did Trampy. As such throughout the life of IS myself and Trampy have been Co-Founders, when one leaves I.E Trampy that just leaves me.

Yes i did say sinjin could have his modem back but if u remember rightly he also had 8 of my rj45s which i wanted back, I know 8 rjs aint to much but neither is a 56k 10pound modem. so why should i allways loose out.

For those of you who don't know me, i am his ex-fiance, etc etc, i have no particular reason to get involved in this, but hey i got nowt better to do
anyways back to the point, dougle, dodgy did not steal your CD's, he was however wrong not to send them back to you. JP all i can say is grow up ffs, i thought you would at least have tried to be diplomatic, and as for afty, quite frankly you've got a cheek boy. Well, I know I have got a cheek (anyone will tell you that), but I do know about everything except the banana issue, and my post was not 90% bollox - alot was fact, and a little was opinion.

Every time Gareth does something which dissapoints or annoys someone else, the familiar old excuse is rolled out that 'something isn't right' or 'I`ve got problems'. Well it's really simple, it doesn't wash. If you let down your friends or lie to them, then what do you expect?

Gareth may well have been a good teamplayer and reliably turned up for his team online for the last 6 months or so, but that's irrelevant to his friends whom he lied to and stole from in the past. So sinjin had 8 RJ cables? Big deal Gareth, you said you would give the modem back and never did, regardless of reasons you broke your word. You also claimed you had stolen the RJs from where you worked, along with quite alot of other equipment, so it's not as if you were losing something you had earned.

There are so many examples of his poor behaviour they are too numerous to list, and this public forum is not the place for them because some are downright dispicable and sick. I have had my say and would rather let sleeping dogs lie.

He was a mate yes, but mates don't lie cheat and deciev other mates, that is what annoys me. I have used this thread to vent some feelings, and if that has offended anyone then sorry, but boo hoo, this is a public forum after all. My feelinfggs are my own and no-one elses. I will not make excuses for anything that I have said, nor will I take anything back.

The fact remains, Dodgy did something that affected IS, not me, but all the team, and I will retort with personal feelings when they are used against me.

Hmm You make it sound like a little practical joke that got out of hand, as opposed to him systematically phoning his friends up to announce he had got married out of the blue, then driving around to my place while sinjin was there to talk about it. Which is what really happened.
