Well it's situated on Elmendorf Airforce Base, the largest American Airforce installation in Alaska. It has a satellite dish in the middle so I guess it is something to do with early warning or perhaps controlling the F-15E Strike Eagles that now fly from there.

Apart from that I have no idea.

That fence thing is massive!!

There is a car within the second ring of fences on the right of the white "building"

I'm vaguely wondering if the 'fences' are actually part of a radar. 'Over The Horizon' ones are usually linear in shape and very big, but this *could* be a circular version to give it full 360 degree coverage ?

And it being in Alaska is perfect for watching for launches from China and Russia.

Of course the whole thing is probably classified so we'll never know for sure.

I guess finding Roman remains in Italy is a little like finding a chip shop in Birmingham, but interesting all the same. Aerial photography has been used to great effect in finding Roman and Saxon remains in Redditch and environs, just down the road from here.

Thank You. I did indeed want to waste 30 mins. And that was perfectly acceptable ;)

I found the roof of my ex mother-in-law's house, which doesn't sound much but it's in an obscure place in Japan that I never expected to see ever again in my life. I followed the road all the way to her house and even saw a picture of the bus I used to ride going through toll pay station on a bridge I used to cross every day. It was quite a mad experience for me. :)

I believe it's to do with Irrigation Booms that rotate around a central pillar.
