I gave £2 to my Barber on Wednesday that was over 30% of the cost of the hair cut :(
You have to tip Barbers?

No wonder the guy at my local barbers has said my hair makes me look like a girl, before :(

Allthough i've not had my hair cut at that place in over 2 years, that'll learn 'em :D

I think that you will find that £2 a month is not 25p a week.

It is if £24 is £12 :) Getting a Game Reward card is a "must do" for BW subscription. I already have one, so 25p a week.

I've never seen so many people argue over so little money!! :D

Whether its £12 or £24 you probably spend more than that in a month on crap anyway..

.....why not spend it on crap that will last an entire year?

Most of the people whinging are children. Children who have no concept of paying the mortgage, insurance, car, utilities, etc. Even their computer was bought for them.

£24 is fuck all. I will be paying.

It was EB who bought out game wasn't it? Now they're rebranding everything as game? Makes me laugh.

I thought that EB was always EB and known as GAME in the US. They rebranded themselves to ensure global recognition and so on. Let's face it, 'Electronics Boutique' is hardly the best name on the High Street these days.

Oh, right. I knew it had something to do with the US.

Think I'll buy me some GAME shares and FEED OFF THE SUBSCRIBERS! AHAHAHAHAHAHAetc

I believe it's the other way around Summo. Game was a smaller chain, that only existed in the UK, with around half as many branches as EB UK.

EB UK are a seperate company to EB i the US... For some reason they thought that the name would bring them customers, so they payed EB in the US, for the right to use the name here. Finally, after buying out Game, they proberbly realised that Game was a better name, so decided to rebrand all their branches to it, and stop paying money to EB in the US.

The logic makes sense to me... Game has allways been better than EB in nottm. What was EB known as before it was EB btw? The old EB branch on Lister Gate in Nottm, that's closed down, used to be called "Future Zone" about 10years ago. Was that an independant shop that EB bought, or did EB used to sell under that name throughout the country?

About 8 years ago there was a company called FutureZone here in the UK. They were taken over by Electronics Boutique, a US company who wanted to get into Europe. The FutureZones were rebranded as EB and they opened a bunch of stores in the UK and rapidly became the biggest games specialist.

EB US then floated off a chunk of EB UK on the London stock market. In 1999, EB UK bought GAME, which was the number 2 chain in the UK (and had just floated themselves), making EB/GAME the biggest games chain in the UK.

EB UK bought the assets of BW in Feb 2001.

EB US got rid of their last stake in EB UK last year and they are now completely separate, which is one reason why EB UK has rebranded to the much better (IMHO) GAME name.

GAME operate in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Sweden & France.
EB US operate in the US, Canada, Australia, Germany, Sweden, Italy and South Korea.

If you want to know more - visit www.gamegroup.plc.uk

Thus endeth the boring lesson in corporate history.

question:
1. When will the P2P happen?
2. Will there be a way to see if the servers are being used and by how many? While not being a member.

I am wondering because looking at the test a few months ago: empty servers and bored me on them. I am not willing to pay for empty servers.
Also if the worst thing happens and the servers will be empty = the will be removed and I have a useless membership.

excuse me? have you read the first post?
BW GOES P2P
Also looking at the page it self there is NO starting date.
/edit I have not played a game online so I would not know that way.

I would like to see an answer though.

Embattle what is your problem? Haven't had enough fun today? But please tell me what ticked you off. Off course I can miss things but giving a polite answer is obvious not one of your strong points.

Use some common sense, its not as if people were going to pay money and others will still get the services free. From the front page:

Now you know why we’ve been quietly busy. What we’ve been talking about for ages is finally here – and you’re going to love the price…

Only £24 a year - or £12 for GAME Reward Card Holders! This sum, equivalent to £2 a month, gets you a whole bunch of stuff, and us an income to pay the bills and to do more things with. Deal?

The few people we’ve shown this too so far have said that it would be worth it just for the Bookable servers or Web Hosting alone (yes, hosting is back and better. MySQL too!), but you get much more than that.

Part 2, via the link from the front page:

For Subscribers only £24 a year or £12 a year with a GAME Reward Card

Bookable Servers (Making Bookings) - Only BarrysWorld Subscribers can make bookings on our Bookable servers. You can still challenge other clans, as anyone can play on a booked server.

Public Servers - The games and mods Subscribers want to jump in for a quick blast, or even a chat. Cheaters will have their accounts suspended, so you can be sure of a fairer game

Hosted Sites (While stocks last) - PHP and a MySQL database for Subscribers to build a site for their team, clan or favourite obsession.

Public FTP - Subscribers get fast access to our FTP server to grab those essential patches and demos. Those Subscribers on an ISP we peer with also get to use our super-fast FTP!

Email Accounts - Those of you lucky enough to have your very own BarrysWorld email address already can keep them, but we're only giving out new accounts to Subscribers.

Personal Forums (coming soon) - Your own forum, with a password if you want, without having to run your own website.

blah blah
