Why do people moan about something that is inevitable?
P2P has been on the books for some time now, and will be the way many many more GSP's will go. Just because Barrysworld have to do it, makes Barrysworld lame, simply because they are at the forfront of their business? No, it doesn't, in anyones books.

People *will* use the free providers more due to this, but imagine this simple thing : The free providers will be under extreme load, from all the "freeloading whingers" that dont want to pay a tiny cost for a good service. The load on this free providers servers proves too much, they either have to buy new hardward, more bandwidth, or dissapear. To do the former, they are more likely to start, if they havent already (unlikely) looking at a P2P solution.

As has been told MANY MANY times before, the business plan isn't viable for proving such an expensive pastime for free.

For the sake of one less pint on one of 4 saturday night in a month, you whinge? That month of gaming is surely more entertaining then that one pint, which you've probably spilled half of anyway.

All in all, thumbs up to Barrysworld, you're welcome to my £24 to keep me entertained, abused and owned until August 2003

None of us are moaining about it, Kryten, and we all know that a move to P2P was inevitable. We're just discussing what we suspect the side-effects of this will be and what we might expect for our money.

That was misunderstood, and out of context Summo : I probably should have pointed out it was more towards the people that *are* whinging, mostly from what i've seen in #barrysworld on IRC.

There are pro's and cons to everything in life, and when it looks like everything is a con, you just have to choose the best con.

Webhosting is open for subscribers.

and G, I explained in that very sentence why I posted it there, it was an easy way to try and get my point accross about that specific item, I could of course explained it by using a "similar" reference, but not directly refer to it, but I am not one to pussyfoot around. It was the easiest explanation available, its a real life situation and makes the best example

hmmm... £12 isn't a lot of money... hopefully it goes well and the servers are populated with ppl there to have fun / a good game of whatever, rather than just jumping on a server to screw the other ppl around... then again, the situation could arise when someone could go onto a server, make a complete pain in the arse of himself (without cheating) - could he / she be banned then if they've paid to access the servers ?

I don't have a Game card, well actually I have around three, all converted from old EB cards, but I binned them as I never actually shop offline.

I looked at the Game card enrollment and its £2 to get one, so does that mean I can spend £2 on the Game card and then get £12 knocked off the BW membership ?

I have 2, because one was an EB card before they finally decided to merge the shops properly. There were 2 branches of each type in Nottm at one point(after EB bought Game)... Mad.

Another interesting fact, is that i didn't actually pay for my Game card. The bloke in the shop was so determined that i have one, that he eventually gave up with the sales pitch, and said i could have it for free. Since i just wanted to buy my game, i gave in Allthough i don't buy many games, so it's proberbly worth me figuring out which card would have the most points on it, to maximise the reward.

Ok so im biased, but if i had no involvement whatsoever with BW i would pay the £12 for hosting, mysql & PHP, great price, quality service and DBs..... what more could a man want.

My first thought is: I can't get a game-card, I am in europe.
I like to use BW but I still feel that its a bit unfair to the european brothers and sisters.
