Maybe they were just not born with the ability to hear as much( as big a frequensy... some word I dunno how to spell :p) as other people, not like every ear is exactly the same (not saying that every ear can't be damaged though)

You've probably never experienced real silence then. When it is really quiet you will after a while hear the blood flow in your head. Its weird and first time I heard it (army, nightwatch during a field trip) it took me quite a while to figure out what it was.
