I saw someone compare this to real life, well wake up and smell the coffee because it is. The community will allways make the unspoken rules and will react accordingly if they are broken.

eg. coming out for the fact that you like to eat foie gras will get another reaction in the gastronimical "community" then in a vegan one

running barebreasted is 100% normal in ethnic african tribes whereas in a large city it is scowled at.

It's simple, if you don't want to be harassed or (however you spell it), don't get your pictures taken and posted with your name under it.

Ah well, my point with that story totally slipped Chances are the guy came in on a foreign boat that was there for the week (there was a festival) and that he is not even in the city anymore. Anyways, what my point was, is that this is something that made women horribly afraid and through their fear they suspected every man they met and though they felt it was just as horrible as the women felt - they also felt accused.

That was the point, I understand when most of you feel accused when talking about sexual herrassment, because it is so damn hard to determine when you are flirting and when you are uncomfortable - again, you cannot read her body language through typing.

Finally to clarify things, I never posted those pics online myself. It was done to illustrate the fact that we had a great time in that RL meeting and i had no objections whatsoever. There are loads of DAOC casanovas. Most of them are single and probably see the forums/DAOC/irc as an extension to their social life where meeting/flirting with people is perfectly normal. Seemingly a lot of people who are subject to this 'flirting' don't really mind all that much judging from their replies. Ofcourse on the odd occasion this goes way overboard but I don't think medea's thread is a prime example of this. All the hostility and finger pointing in this thread isn't really helping your cause to raise awareness either.

Not that I am deeming myself a DAOC Casanova or anything, but I can totally comprehend how one conducts themselves ingame as being an extension (partially, anyways) of their real life social approaches. Unfortunately, some people just dont know how to 'flirt' or even deal with others on a rational level, directly reflecting their ingame dealings with the rest of the community; said person(s) come off like a total blasted idiot, a moron, or just plain desperate.
