I've just changed from an S2 to a HTC OneX+, and they are both good phones, but I like the HTC better. My son has just got the newest HTC, with the aluminium body, that looks nice too.
The speaker on the new phone is pretty amazing for such a tiny thing.

Want something different and thinking about the s4. My brother just got the s3 mini and he is not very tech savvy, but he's getting on with it really well

Actually, it is. I had no intention of getting an i5 but my daughter dropped my i4 playing Talking Friends and smashed the screen to bits, so work replaced it with a 5. It is nicer. Subtly, but nicer, especially the screen. My missus had never been interested in an iPhone but upgraded to an i5 from a Galaxy S2 after using mine. I'm absolutely not an Apple fanboy, but...

Neither. I've had the Xperia Z and it's lovely. Similar spec to the other two and it's waterproof.

I'm due an upgrade and the i5 is the going to be the replacement, but i thought i would try something different. I'm no Apple fanboy either, i don't care either way, its been a good phone and i've had no problems with it apart from when i smashed the screen and they replaced the whole phone for the same cost of what a back street phone shop were going to charge to replace just the screen (and i'd lose the warranty)

Apple's in store customer service is second to none as far as i'm concerned. I do like the look and feel of the HTC though, it very nice

But playing with the S3 mini, i was impressed with that too, so the S4 is an option

Call me sceptical, but can you really judge when the S4 isn't even out yet? Granted my next phone is between these two, I'm leaning toward the HTC.

I've recently had to pull my One X apart and bodge the wifi antenna into working order (two contact springs had become weak, reducing the signal).

Wait until they've both been out a couple of months. There'll no doubt be expensive design flaws you wouldn't want to deal with.

Well, there's no flaws in my One.

The S4 is STUPID expensive as well, you're shelling out for the new status phone if you get that. If you get the One you get a top phone, made of better components for much less. No competition IMO, S4 is a S3.5 with gimmicks, there's no real reason to get one over an S3. But there are reasons to get a One over an S3.

I am due an upgrade now too. If I upgrade now the 5s will be announced and released in April. If i wait till the end of April it will be October I am of the mind to wait if I have to wait till October that's fine. I am going to change my contract to that £10 Virgin plan or take the hit and pay work to use my Work phone for Personal calls.

W S4 is a S3.5 with gimmicks, there's no real reason to get one over an S3. But there are reasons to get a One over an S3.

This is preaty much is the essence of the vibe that I'm picking up.
I have the S2, I found no need to upgrade to the S3 however now I'm concidering it, upgrading the from the S2
I'd go for the S4 for the similarity, but I find that it's getting more and more difficult to ignore the ONE.

As for the I'm not an apple fan...but people; I'm preaty sure thats apples password for it's bank vault.
At least man up to your fetish! oh and this was a choice thread!! I'm not asking what you have or plan to get.
I'm asking of the two, which would you have - Iphone 5 was NOT an option.

S4 feels like a pointless upgrade. The HTC One looks lovely, although they need to fire whoever comes up with their names these days. Not sure if it'll tempt me away from the Nexus series of phones though ...

I would have prefered it to stay were it was, I had contimplated putting it here, and yet opted for general - I had a reason for that.
Not somehting I wish to make a big deal over, but yes - I'm not happy with the move.

Neither... I actually agree with Bohdi that the z looks the better phone. HTC flopped on the camera, had they got that right they would be onto a winner. Tom is right though, wait a couple of months before judging them.

The HTC One's 2300mAh power cell struggles to cope with the demands of that massive screen and hungry processor and as a result it's almost impossible to get an entire day of usage out of a single charge.

Disagree with this, regularly get 36+ hours out of the phone.

Battery life is so personal. My phone will easily last 2 days but someone who watches YouTube ect during a 1 hour commute will struggle to get that, it is why reviews are only ever guides based on an individuals circumstances.

Yeah weekdays it lasts just over a day, weekends up to 2. Weekdays will have more use, lots more music listening, watching 20-40 mins of video, using 3G etc. Weekends more sporadic checks.

No idea what to go for next. Issues with ALL the latest handsets. Sticking with my S2 until they can produce a screen that's readable on my car dash in bright sunlight.

I quite like the Xperia Z, but the screen's been slated for being unreadable unless you're looking straight down at it. The S4 sounds awesome spec but the sound quality is shite apparently and the camera underperforms. And if it looks anything like the S3, no thanks. The HTC has no expandable memory slot so thats a big no-no for me. But HTC produce the best feeling phones in the hand. The Note2 has the pixel density of the ZX Spectrum so no thanks. And Apple can fuck off.

I store all my music as flac, and keep lots of photos on my device. So yes, having the option for extra memory is a must. It's down to personal taste. I think I'll sit this gen out with my s3 and wait for the next nexus offering.

I think im going to do the same!

My S3 is perfect for me at the moment. Feels too new and up to date still so don't feel the need to upgrade.

These new phones don't seem to offer much of an upgrade for the S3.

I keep wanting to try Android again but until I get a warranty that is up to what I get with Apple I am staying put. That and the quality feel of the devices have me hooked. My cousin has posted about his first day with the Sony and he is in love and his review did include dropping it into a urinal mid stream. So he has confirmed that it can take a golden shower and a good rinse down and carry on regardless
