Do you really need more than 32 gig on a phone?

For ordinary everyday use, no.

But this is 2013, and it seems a little unusual to produce a smartphone these days without the ability to increase memory size.

32 Gigs is enormous. But if all your movies are Blu Ray quality (and most TV's and all the new smartphones now have HD displays), the average BR Rip is what? 3 Gigs? Thats only 10 movies. And yes, most of us don't watch movies on our phones all the time, but its nice to have the space to stick stuff on if we want to.

3gb is very conservative if you're talking about 1080p rips but still, I have 32gb in my S2 and a 32gb microSD card and I haven't come close to filling it all up. It's nice to have the expandability though.

I only ever get the 16GB devices as i have iTunes on my PC at work and home so I can change films ect at either location. The only time I can see it being an issue is when I am in the America as I have the 10 hour flight in both directions at most I can get 5 720p films on it or 10+ SD films which would give me the 20 hours. The ability to connect up £20 16GB micro SD cards would be bloody nice :(

I've got 16GB in my Galaxy Nexus, not come close to filling it up. I'm definitely not the kind of person that'd put videos on my phone though. Maybe one if going on a long journey - but then I wouldn't give a shit if it's 1080p or not since it's only a 4.x" screen so who gives a shit.

I am very tempted by this. I was going to avoid the 5 but at £400 with Mazuma offering £210 for my 4s it might be worth doing it.

Nexus 4 is my phone of choice, as good as i5, S4 and htc1 but at £230 a pop. Why pay double?

, It's a good point, the nexus 4 is just as good spec wise as the new gen.

My brother has just ordered his S4 through 3 - decent tariff, 35 quid for 2 years which isn't *too* bad considering my normal method of checking contract prices (check cost of low interest loan for the £550 over the same period of time, add in cost of sim-only tariff with same options). He's upgrading from an S2, and only thing holding him back from the HTC was the lack of storage upgrade. He's very much a tinkerer which surprises me that he didn't go for the Nexus but still. Each to their own, and he has money to burn.

I store all my music as flac, and keep lots of photos on my device. So yes, having the option for extra memory is a must. It's down to personal taste. I think I'll sit this gen out with my s3 and wait for the next nexus offering.

Really can't see the point in keeping loads of photos on my phone - I auto sync to dropbox these days. I guess with FLAC you need more storage, but given you can only get 64GB on a micro SD aren't you swapping and changing tracks all the time anyway? Seems like another candidate for cloud rather than local storage.

I would have prefered it to stay were it was, I had contimplated putting it here, and yet opted for general - I had a reason for that.
Not somehting I wish to make a big deal over, but yes - I'm not happy with the move.

All I can suggest is you make a complaint about me to an uber mod regarding the thread move. Give Teedles a nudge and mention it, if he see's fit I will get shouted at and the thread will be returned to it's original place.

As for which phone - HTC 8X :D

Thinking about getting the HTC One after reading this review of it. I am out of contract and currently have an iPhone 4s. Want something different but my only concern is the loss of iCloud syncing of my contacts. Do the Android phones have something similar?

If you sync your contacts to a google mail account it is like a universal sync on any device that supports Exchange syncing. Just add an exchange account for m.google.com it works fine for me.

Fucksake, just looked at the dimensions of the HTC One vs iPhone 4s, it is fucking huge. Will it easily fit in a front pocket on a pair of jeans?

Ok, convinced. Want it on a 12mth contract. Also, when I get it I shall be expecting a thread on what to install from the get go, what not to, what to remove and what about upgrading to Android 4.2.2 or do I wait for HTC to release that?
