I've always been able to reach the top shelf, so no problem here, even if this thread has made me realise I'm shorter than I thought I was.

My first love was a short Scottish man... Something about the accent.. However I can concur that tall != better... In fact sometimes it makes things really awkward (I'm 5 ft 4 and a very very long time ago I had a short lived relationship with someone of 6 ft 7....)

Originally i think it derives from "strongest man make strongest baby!", tall, muscles, no ailments like a gimpy finger.

Update on the height, I got my workmate to hold the tape and I'm now 5'7 and not 5'6 and a half as previously thought.

I feel almost statuesque

Everything we are is because it worked best..all very obvious..but it's easy to stray when thinking about evolution...men are taller because women who were attracted to tall men do better...probably not as important now but will take a long time to change.

In Carl Sagans book..Pale blue dot I think..he comments on that feeling we get when we stare across the ocean or mountains and it gives those far away places a mysterious..magical essence and that feeling has been implanted by thousands of generations of ancestors who were driven to search over the horizon for better lands..survived because of it and passed it on to you...just awesome.

Russell I'm tiny... I have been out with quite short men and very tall men.... It's not about anything apart from personality and intellect with me ... And no big g personality is not a synonym for wallet... I am highly self-sufficient and neither want or need a mans money although I do like to be treated like a lady (doors opened etc etc)...
