i tend to agree with puma, scooba et al here... all this press coverage has done nothing at all to help, it's just media frenzy bollocks, and frankly i am offended by all the press coverage - especially all this bullshit about the internet.. i don't know about you, but in my house we get three newspapers, and day after day, all three of them are full of that trash about "kids meeting paedo's in chatrooms". as i said, arse. think u need to calm down a bit there SG, puma wasn't in the least bit offensive in what he said compared to some things that crop up on here.

I think pumas problem is he needs to either grow up or learn to use some tact in his posts.
As I mentioned earlier it will be nice to have the continual coverage off of our screens now, but at least I can employ a modicum of aforementioned tact in stating it.

Freedom of Expression versus Common decency
I too am ashamed of the media feeding frenzy following this story. It is all too clear that the british press exploit situations like this for their own ends. Tragedy sells and is good for busines for these creeps.
However, I too found Puma offensive. I know where he was coming from and understand his sentiment at heart, but there was something about the way he said it that irritated me. Such a casual dismissal. I too am irritated by the presentation of this case, but the actual case itself is tragic and cant be dismissed so brutally. I would also like to point out that whilst I respect "your right" to express your opinion, you're doing it a forum that has rules. Part of those rules state:
Again, I dont want to stifle the forums, there should always be a slightly anarchic feel to such a medium I believe, or people who want to use forums wouldnt use this one. But I think a little more respect of other people feelings wouldnt go amiss sometimes in here.
Freedom of expression is all very well, but everything has a limit.
Please, consider other peoples feelings a little more when posting, or we'll have to delete the posts, and/or ban the posters.

Nah we dont need a General Forum moderator, if such a problem occurs like what Puma said, Report it to a Moderator ,and let them take it from there.

Ted, i'm familiar with your Terms&Conditions and as you said everything has a limit, which is why I do not object to certain posts of mine being deleted. Let me try to put this in laymens terms for you:
Swear words, like shit fuck cunt piss bastard etc are generally accepted here (and therefore not asterixed out) because we're mainly adults who don't find that sort of thing terribly offensive. It's a part of everyday vernacular for most of us.
Complete insensitivity on the other hand is offensive, and until the day where you've matured enough to grasp the reasoning behind other peoples distaste at your earlier post then there's little point in trying to explain it to you.
It's like trying to explain irony to a 4yr old.
