Yep there are virtualised, mark jacobs stated that it takes about 30 mins to create a new server, they only way to do this is VM or Hyper V.

Ah cool, they're likely running ESX then. We use ESX and I have to say its rather shekshy. You can snapshot a server, copy the entire virtual machine (4 files or so, a few more depending on what you've been doing) to the new location, then all you need to do is edit stuff like SID, networking and a few other details of the guest OS and whatever application is running on it in the new location and you can bring it onto a virtual test LAN, make sure it works, then roll it out onto the production LAN. Snapshotting is a bit misunderstood though, partly because its a rather poor name for what it actually is.

Er, I'll shut up now. Been doing rather a lot of vmware lately and I get a bit excited about it.

been using vmware esx for 4 years now, indeed it does rock (in a geek stylee)
