I know a couple of people who made a point of not comming into work for St Georges Day so they could just go out drinking all day.
Seeing as thats all St Patricks day is to the irish why can't we do the same for our day?![]()
Not that anyone really knows about what the Saints are meant to have done anyway, its just an excuse to spend money these days, bit like valentines day. What the hell, any excuse to have fun is good enough for me.
Didn't george slay all the dragons or a dragon or something?

Twas a joke. It was a jab at how low down on the celebrations scale they are. England would rather celebrate another country's patron saint than it own (prolly cos of the excuse to drink Guinness hence St Patrick being a more "fun" saint to honour).
Did you hear about when the Queen visited some market or something last week? They tried to stop people waving the Union Jack for fear of people branding it a racsist action. WTF?
You can't wave your country's own flag IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY without get branded a racist? PC gone too far? Hmmm I think so.
I've also heard of council's ordering people to remove Union Jack's from their front room windows for fear it would offend the minorities. What a feckin joke.
It seems saying you're proud to be British these days is seen as some radical racist statement.
